A system and a method for program recommendation are described. In order to present a user a recommendation for a choice of audio or video content pieces broadcast consecutively at a plurality of different channels, (a) piece scores of content pieces are calculated, indicating a match of a corresponding content description with a profile, (b) and sequence scores are calculated for a plurality of sequences of content pieces, said sequence scores being based at least on said piece scores and on a correlation of content descriptions of at least two pieces contained in the sequence. A recommended sequence is chosen according to the sequence score. Preferably, one or, more preferred sequences are shown to the user in a lattice representation.

Program recommendation system

The invention relates to a method of supporting the proof-reading of a text () obtained in particular by speech recognition from a speech signal (), of which at least one text component (Bto B) has a reliability level () for its correctness, which method comprises a control of the progression of the replay speed () of the part of the speech signal () belonging to the text component (Bto B) as a function of the reliability level () of the text component (Bto B). Faster replay of the reliable passages of a speech signal () shortens the working time required for proof-reading, while the slow replay of the unreliable passages raises the attention of the proof-reading user. An acoustic and/or visual () marking of the passage as a function of its reliability () is advantageous. The method according to the invention is particularly suitable for implementation within a speech recognition system.

Method of supporting the proof-reading of speech-recognized text with a replay speed adapted to the recognition reliability

An automatic speech recognizer only responsive to acoustic speech utterances is activated only in response to acoustic energy having a spectrum associated with the speech utterances and at least one facial characteristic associated with the speech utterances. In one embodiment, a speaker must be looking directly into a video camera and the voices and facial characteristics of plural speakers must be matched to enable activation of the automatic speech recognizer.

Speech activity detection using acoustic and facial characteristics in an automatic speech recognition system

The invention relates to a method of controlling function units of a motorcar or of devices () installed in a motorcar, via speech signals, in which acoustic signals occurring in the motorcar, which contain noise signal portions that depend on the operating state and/or operation environment of the motorcar, and speech signal portions, as the case may be, are applied to a speech recognition system () and the speech recognition system () uses acoustic references () which are selected and/or adapted in dependence on detected data of the operating state and/or operation environment. The invention is not restricted to speech control in the domain of motorcars.

Method of controlling devices via speech signals, more particularly, in motorcars

A data base query submitted in natural speech normally requires a dialog with the data base system, which repeatedly prompts the user to submit further statements. From each speech utterance submitted by the user a plurality of sets of statements are derived. The statements in these sets are tested for consistency with stored statements determined previously and consistent new statements are stored and stored statements are corrected or verified. Moreover, the stored statements are basically used in each dialogue step in order to derive from these statements an optimum request for the user by the system. Preferably, the statements are also stored with probability values or reliability values, the corresponding values of new statements to be stored being derived from the reliabilities of the statements of the respective speech utterance and the corresponding consistent statements stored.

Method of and arrangement for executing a data base query

Method and apparatus are disclosed for adapting linguistic speech models in automatic speech recognition systems using speech recognition results obtained during operation of such systems, in which, during the adaptation, a list of N-best recognition result alternatives with N>1 for a speech utterance to be recognized is evaluated. To improve such an on-line adaptation of the linguistic speech models, a combination of a plurality of recognition result alternatives of the list is included in the adaptation.

Method of adapting linguistic speech models

A method and device for recognizing speech that has a sequence of words each including one or more letters. The word and letters form a recognition data base. The method receives and recognizes the speech by preliminary modelling among various probably recognized sequences. The method selects one or more model sequences as result. In particular, the method allows in a model sequence of exclusively letters, various words as a subset. Such words are used to qualify one or more neighbouring or included letters in the sequence. An applicable model is a mixed information unit model.
