A fuel gas-operated vehicle heater includes a burner area with a combustion chamber () formed in a combustion chamber housing (). The combustion chamber housing () includes a circumferential wall () defining the combustion chamber () in relation to a housing longitudinal axis radially outwards and a bottom area () axially defining the combustion chamber (). The bottom area () has a fuel gas feed chamber () between a first bottom wall () defining the combustion chamber () and a second bottom wall (). A fuel gas feed line () opens into the fuel gas feed chamber (). A fuel gas inlet opening assembly is provided in the first bottom wall () for the entry of fuel gas from the fuel gas feed chamber () into the combustion chamber ().

Fuel gas-operated vehicle heater

A fuel treatment device () converts a hydrocarbon-containing fuel into a fuel for a fuel cell (). The fuel treatment device () has for this purpose a mixture formation space () for forming and processing a mixture of fuel and another component, a reformer () for converting the mixture into a synthesis gas and a desulfurization stage () for removing sulfur from the synthesis gas or from the mixture. The reformer () and desulfurization stage () are arranged adjacent to each other in a housing () along an axis of the housing ().

Fuel treatment device

A system () includes an electrical load system () with a load network battery (), and a fuel cell system (). Operation is simplified, especially during start of the fuel cell system () if the fuel cell system () has a system battery (). A system voltage across the system battery () can be supplied to electrical system loads () of the fuel cell system () and, via a load voltage converter () and at least one additional voltage converter (), to the load system () and secondary electrical loads ().

Arrangement comprising a fuel cell system

A process for operating a fuel cell system (), which is arranged in a vehicle () having a tachograph () and an internal combustion engine (), and used for power supply of at least one electrical component () of the vehicle () with the internal combustion engine () switched off. With the fuel cell system () switched off, the control device () receives from the tachograph () a foreseeable break start time of an operating break following a drive mode, which is legally prescribed and/or planned by the driver of the vehicle (), at which the internal combustion engine () is switched off. The control device () determines a start time such that a start procedure of the fuel cell system () ends at the break start time and the fuel cell system () is ready for operation, when the fuel cell system () is started at the start time.

Operating process for a fuel cell system

A fuel cell system () with a fuel cell unit () including at least one fuel cell (), as well as an anode gas feed () including a reformer (). A reduced deposit of hydrocarbons on an anode () of the fuel cell (), especially in case of a cold start of the fuel cell system (), is achieved when the anode gas feed () has a reduction device (), which is arranged between the reformer () and the anode ().

Fuel cell system

A fuel cell system () has a fuel cell () and a reformer (). A careful operation of the fuel cell system (), in particular during a start-up of the fuel cell system (), is obtained when the fuel cell system () is equipped with a reformer heating burner (additional burner) (). The heat of reformer heating burner waste gas of the reformer heating burner () is fed to the reformer ().

A fuel cell system (), especially in a motor vehicle, is provided with at least one fuel cell () for generating electric current from anode gas and cathode gas, with at least one reformer () for generating anode gas from oxidant gas and fuel. At least one residual gas burner () is provided for burning anode waste gas with cathode waste gas. A recycling device () is provided for recycling burner waste gas to the reformer ().

Fuel cell system and motor vehicle equipped therewith

The invention relates to a burner, in particular a residual gas burner for a fuel cell system. The burner includes a combustion chamber which is bordered by a supply wall and by a heat exchanger and which is encompassed at the sides by a burner wall. The heat exchanger is a cross-current heat exchanger having a primary path and a secondary path. The supply wall has a burner zone with oxidizer openings for oxidizer gas and with combustion gas openings for combustion gas and a bypass zone with bypass openings for bypass gas. The bypass zone is arranged in a section of the supply wall which is allocated to an area of the heat exchanger adjacent to the primary path and to the secondary path at the inlet end, so that the bypass gas or a bypass gas-burner exhaust gas mixture acts upon this area.

Burner and fuel cell system equipped therewith

A burner () for burning a gaseous oxidant with a gaseous fuel, with a combustion chamber (), in which the combustion reaction takes place during the operation of the burner (), has a wall structure () which defines the combustion chamber () on the inlet side and which has oxidant openings () for introducing the oxidant into the combustion chamber () and fuel openings (), which are separate therefrom, for introducing the fuel into the combustion chamber (). The wall structure () has an oxidant distributor space (), which is fluidically connected with the oxidant openings () on the outlet side and is fluidically connected with at least one oxidant feed opening () on the inlet side, as well as contains a fuel distributor space (), which is fluidically separated from the oxidant distributor space () and is fluidically connected on the outlet side with the fuel openings () and is fluidically connected with at least one fuel feed opening () on the inlet side. A plurality of oxidant feed openings () are formed in the wall structure () on a side facing away from the combustion chamber (), a plurality of fuel feed openings () are formed in the wall structure () on the side facing away from the combustion chamber (), and the oxidant feed openings () and fuel feed openings () are arranged next to each other and alternating with one another in a straight connection area ().

Burner

A fuel cell module () with a fuel cell (), a residual gas burner () and a heat exchanger (). The service life of the module () can be improved by at least one compensator () for establishing a flow-carrying connection between the residual gas burner () and the heat exchanger ().

Fuel cell module

A modular fuel cell system is provided, especially for use in vehicles, with a fuel cell module, which has a stack of a plurality fuel cell elements between a first end plate and a second end plate, with a burner-heat exchanger module, which has a heat exchanger for preheating cathode gas and a burner for reacting fuel cell waste gases. Manufacturing advantages are provided with the first end plate has, on a connection side facing away from the stack, an anode gas inlet opening, a cathode gas inlet opening, an anode waste gas outlet opening and a cathode waste gas outlet opening and if the burner-heat exchanger module has an anode gas outlet opening communicatingly connected to the an anode gas inlet opening, an cathode gas outlet opening communicatingly connected to the an cathode gas inlet opening, an anode waste gas inlet opening communicatingly connected to the an anode waste gas outlet opening and an cathode waste gas inlet opening communicatingly connected to the an cathode waste gas outlet opening.

Modular fuel cell system with burner-heat exchanger module

A wall structure () for a burner (), with a first wall (), which has elevations () and which defines a first supply chamber (), and with a second wall (), which has recesses () cooperating with end sections () of the elevations () and which defines a reaction chamber (). The first wall () has first openings (), which connect the first supply chamber () to the reaction chamber (). The second wall () has second openings (), which connect a second supply chamber () located between the walls () to the reaction chamber (). The first openings () are arranged in first rows () and the second openings () in second rows (). The mixture formation or homogenization of the gases in the reaction chamber () can be improved if at least one second opening () is arranged within the first row () between two openings ().

Wall structure and burner as well as system

A fuel cell system (), especially in a motor vehicle, is provided with a fuel cell (), which generates electric current during the operation from anode gas and cathode gas, with a residual gas burner (), which reacts anode waste gas with cathode waste gas into burner waste gas during the operation; with an air delivery device (), which feeds air as cathode gas to the fuel cell () via a fuel cell air line () during the operation; and with a first heat exchanger (), which couples a waste gas line () removing burner waste gas from the residual gas burner () with the fuel cell air line () in a heat-transmitting operation. The start-up process of the system () is improved with an auxiliary burner (), which reacts air with a fuel into an auxiliary burner waste gas during the operation; with a bypass air line (), which is connected on the inlet side to the fuel cell air line () between the air delivery device () and the first heat exchanger () and which is connected to the fuel cell air line () on the outlet side between the first heat exchanger () and the fuel cell (). A second heat exchanger () couples an auxiliary waste gas line () removing auxiliary burner waste gas from the auxiliary burner () with the bypass air line () in a heat-transmitting manner.

Fuel cell system and operating process

A fuel cell system (), especially in a motor vehicle, includes at least one fuel cell () for generating electricity, at least one reformer () for generating a reformat gas, a fuel supply means () for feeding fuel to the reformer (), a recycling means (), which has a recycling line () connected to the reformer () for feeding anode waste gas of the fuel cell () to the reformer (), and an air supply means (), which has an air line () connected to the reformer () separately from the recycling line () for feeding air to the reformer (). To increase performance, the fuel supply means () may be designed such that fuel can be introduced with it into the recycling line ().

Fuel cell system and corresponding operating method

A fuel cell system () is provided, especially for a motor vehicle, with a fuel cell stack (), which has a plurality of fuel cell elements (). The elements () are stacked up one upon the other in which an electrolyte separates an anode space from a cathode space. A risk of damage is reduced during heating by a bracing housing (), which accommodates the fuel cell stack () in its interior () and which has a pot part () and a cover part (), which are or can be prestressed (with compressive force) towards one another by means of pulling elements () and which are supported in the interior () by mutually opposite front sides () of the fuel cell stack ().
