An anvil for a cutting tool includes an anvil body. A curved passage extends from an inlet opening in the anvil body to an outlet opening in the anvil body. The anvil body can be made by an additive manufacturing process. The anvil body includes a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface between the top surface and the bottom surface. The side surface includes at least three side surface portions and at least three corner portions. Each corner portion is disposed between respective pairs of the side surface portions. At least one corner portion includes a surface that extends radially outward from a central axis of the anvil relative to extensions of a respective pair of side surface portions. The central axis extends between the top and bottom surfaces, wherein the extensions of the respective pair of side surface portions intersect within the periphery of the anvil.

An anvil for a cutting tool includes an anvil body. A curved passage extends from an inlet opening in the anvil body to an outlet opening in the anvil body. The anvil body can be made by an additive manufacturing process.

The present disclosure relates to a cutting tool for metal chip removing machining having at least one internal coolant channel for fluid having a flow direction. The at least one internal coolant channel having a length and including a plurality of grooves extending internally at least partially along the coolant channel.

A metal cutting tool includes a tool holder, a seat in the tool holder defined by side walls and a bottom surface. A replaceable element formed by an insert seating anvil is positioned in the seat and secured by a fastening device. A cutting insert is supported on a base surface of the anvil. The anvil has a projecting element formed integrally with the anvil. The projecting element is rigid and has a dove tail shape in top view, wherein the projecting element base and lower surfaces form coplanar extensions of the base and lower surfaces of the rest of the anvil.

The present disclosure relates to a tool having a holder body, a cutting insert and a nozzle. The nozzle includes a single through hole for a fastening member. The nozzle has a forward end, a rear end and a bottom face. The through hole extends between the bottom face and an opposite top face. At least one internal coolant channel is provided in the nozzle and extends from a first opening to a second opening. The first opening connects to a coolant supply conduit in the holder body. The second opening serves as an exit for the coolant at the forward end. The at least one coolant channel and the first opening are spaced from the through hole.

Coated cemented carbide inserts are particularly useful for wet or dry milling steels. The inserts are formed by a cemented carbide body including WC, NbC and a W-alloyed Co binder phase, and a coating including an innermost layer of TiCNO, with equiaxed grains, a layer of TiCNOwith columnar grains and a layer of &#x3b1;-AlO.

A coated cemented carbide insert is particularly useful for wet or dry milling steels at high cutting speeds, milling of hardened steels, and high feed copy milling of tool steels. The insert is formed by a cemented carbide body including WC, NbC and TaC, a W-alloyed Co binder phase, and a coating including an innermost layer of TiCNO, with equiaxed grains, a layer of TiCNOwith columnar grains and a layer of &#x3b1;-AlO.

The insert is formed by a composition of the substrate of about 5-7 wt % Co, about 0.05-20 wt % total amount of the metals selected from the group consisting of Ti, Nb, Ta and combination thereof, and balance WC with a coercivity (Hc) of 1 about 4-19 kA/m and an S-value of about 0.81-0.96. The coating includes a homogeneous layer of (TiAl)N, where x is between about 0.25 and abut 0.50 with a crystal structure of NaCl type and a total thickness of between about 1.0 and about 5.0 &#x3bc;m as measured on the middle of the flank face.

Insert for milling of cast iron

Coated cemented carbide inserts, particularly useful for milling of cast iron, methods for making the inserts, and methods of their use are disclosed. The inserts are characterized by a composition of the substrate of about 5-7 wt % Co, about 0.05-2.0 wt % total amount of the metals selected from the group consisting of Ti, Nb,Ta and combination thereof, and balance WC with a coercivity (Hc) of 1 about 4-19 kA/m and an S-value of about 0.81-0.96. The coating comprises a homogeneous layer of (TiAl)N, where x is between about 0.25 and about 0.50 with a crystal structure of NaCl type and a total thickness of between about 1.0 and about 5.0 &#x3bc;m as measured on the middle of the flank face.

A coated cutting insert for metal machining, in particular of short chipping materials, includes a tungsten carbide-based substrate with a binder phase enriched surface zone having at least one rake face and at least one clearance face intersecting to form a cutting edge. The binder phase enriched surface zone is at least partly missing on the rake face including at least a part of the surface extending from the cutting edge. As a result, an optimum combination of edge strength and wear resistance has been achieved.
