Galley trolley compartment doors that replace traditional trolley retainer latches used to secure trolleys when positioned in galley compartments. The galley trolley compartment doors are designed with engaging arms that help secure the trolleys in place under required loads. Some embodiments of the galley trolley compartment doors are designed with thicknesses that can help improve cooling of the trolley compartment.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to improved braking systems for slide extractors. Slide extractors are generally used in aircraft galleys in order to move containers forward. The disclosed slide extractor braking system provides cooperation between magnets and corresponding conductive material in order to manage and appropriately slow retraction of the slide extractor in use.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to the use of the fuel cell systems on board aircraft and other passenger transportation vehicles and to methods of using heat, air, and water generated by such fuel cell systems. The heat may be used to address condensation within the aircraft. The heat may be used to help evaporate excess water that would otherwise condense in the aircraft skin. The excess water collected may be used to create humidification for cabin air. In other examples, the heat, warmed air, or warmed water may be delivered to other locations or heating systems for beneficial use.

Described are inerting systems that may be used on board an aircraft or other passenger transportation vehicle to reduce a risk of fire due to electronic components or to other elements in a compartment and to assist in preventing or extinguishing any fire or hazardous condition that may occur. The systems include a source of inert gas such as oxygen depleted air generated from a fuel cell on board the aircraft. The oxygen depleted air or other inert gas is conveyed through ducts to compartments that house the electronics, thus changing the conditions in the compartment to be less conducive to fire.

Embodiments provide systems and methods for releasing grey water from an aircraft sink or sump using an improved waste water air stop valve. The valves described herein allow drainage of waste water, without air leakage. Additionally, if drainage in the piping is blocked, the valves are designed to ensure that water cannot flow back into the sinks or sumps.

In a craft such as a passenger aircraft, an apparatus is provided for storing and retrieving service trolleys () in a craft having a passenger deck () and a cargo bay. The apparatus can comprise a container () located in the cargo bay () and configured to hold at least one service trolley (). The apparatus can also comprise a pillar () located on the passenger deck, and the pillar can be configured to receive at least one service trolley. The apparatus can also comprise a lift () configured to move the at least one service trolley between the container and the pillar. The apparatus can use the electricity, heat, and by-products from an integrated fuel cell system () to power a trolley distribution system and fulfill catering purposes, like heating and cooling.

Described are power management systems having at least one fuel cell system, a power distribution unit, at least one galley insert, a galley network controller, a control panel, and/or at least one battery pack. The power management system compares a power output from the power distribution unit to a maximum load level and/or to a minimum load level, instructs the galley network controller to cycle the galley insert off and/or set an operation of the galley insert to a lower power consumption level when the power output approaches and/or is above the maximum load level, and instructs the galley network controller to cycle the galley insert on and/or set the operation of the galley insert to a higher power consumption level when the power output approaches and/or is below the minimum load level.

Autonomous trolleys include an integrated power source, which energy can be utilized for integrated trolley systems such as a wheel assist module, heating module, and cooling module. The power source may include a fuel cell system or a rechargeable electrical energy storage device or a combination thereof. The rechargeable electrical energy storage device can be charged by any other power source, including a fuel cell system. The trolley can also be equipped with a fuel tank for easy and safe refueling of a fuel cell system.
