An operating method of an exhaust gas aftertreatment system including at least a particulate filter for retaining soot from the exhaust gas of an engine and a deNOx catalytic converter for reducing nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas of the engine is provided. Operation regimes of the particulate filter and of the deNOx catalytic converter are synchronized with respect to each other for performing regeneration of the particulate filter while the catalytic converter provides a nitrogen oxide conversion efficiency above a predetermined limit.

A method, device and computer program product are provided for diagnosing of a NOx-reducing catalyzer that can be regenerated and/or of a three-way valve for directing the flow of exhaust gases into a bypass pipe, and/or of a clean-up catalyzer. All the components can be included in one and the same exhaust emission control system. The diagnosing of the NOx-reducing catalyzer and of the three-way valve is carried out by method steps comprising measurement of the drop in pressure across the NOx-reducing catalyzer. The diagnosing of the clean-up catalyzer is carried out by method steps comprising measurement of the increase in temperature in the clean-up catalyzer. In the event of reduced functionality of the NOx catalyzer, a deSOx is carried out. A fault code is generated in the event of reduced functionality of the three-way valve or of the clean-up catalyzer.

Method, device and computer program product for diagnosing of at least one exhaust emission control unit

A method, a device and a computer program product for the diagnosis of an oxidation catalyst for the oxidation of NO into NOin a motor vehicle is provided. An exhaust gas aftertreatment system includes at least the aforementioned oxidation catalyst and a particulate filter and/or an NO-reducing catalyst arranged downstream of the oxidation catalyst, and a predetermined quantity of a reducing agent is supplied to the exhaust system upstream of the oxidation catalyst, and the NOcontent or NOcontent is measured downstream of the oxidation catalyst. The method includes measuring a first value for the NO/NOcontent at a point in time before the reduction agent is supplied to the exhaust gas system, measuring a second value for the NO/NOcontent at a point in time during the period when the reduction agent is supplied to the exhaust gas system, and comparing the aforementioned values, in conjunction with which an indication of the impaired function of the oxidation catalyst is obtained when the difference between the aforementioned measured values is less than a predetermined first value.

Method, device and computer program product for diagnosing an oxidation catalyst

A method and an arrangement are provided for maintaining the oxidation of NO to NO2 in an oxidation catalytic converter arranged in a vehicle, the vehicle including an internal combustion engine which in operation emits exhaust gases to an exhaust gas after treatment system including the oxidation catalytic converter. A predetermined quantity of hydrocarbon is delivered to the exhaust gas aftertreatment system or the engine over at least one predetermined time interval for the purpose of maintaining the working temperature or regenerating an exhaust gas aftertreatment unit. The quantity of hydrocarbon is delivered to the exhaust gas aftertreatment system or to the engine through an injection with at least one predetermined fragmentation frequency and an injection period in order to maintain an NO2 production in the exhaust gas aftertreatment system that prevailed immediately prior to said time interval for the hydrocarbon injection.
