A dishwasher includes a dishwasher interior for washing items to be washed with washing liquor. Arranged at a lower end of the dishwasher interior is a pump sump for collecting the washing liquor, and a sensor is arranged in the pump sump for outputting a sensor signal as a function of a presence of washing liquor at the sensor. A control apparatus configured to carry out a washing program selected from a number of washing programs is designed to determine a malfunction of a component of a hydraulic assembly as a function of the sensor signal and of a current operating state of the dishwasher.

A dishwasher includes a memory unit for storing a number of washing programs, a control device configured to carry out a washing program from the number of washing programs; and a communication unit configured to retrieve a specific washing program from an external device in accordance with a status information relating to an external household appliance, and to store the retrieved specific washing program in the memory unit, said control device carrying out the stored specific washing program.

A device is provided to capture whether the door or flap is closed or open and to detect a traversal of the two-stage or multi-stage safety catch.

When the water flow diverter is not malfunctioning, the pump is again checked for smooth running or a refilling step is carried out to increase the minimum amount of filling water. A dishwasher includes a controller controlling a cleaning cycle, a screen system for filtering a wash fluid, a circulation chamber and a collection chamber in fluid communication with the circulation chamber via a screen arrangement, a circulation pump for circulating the wash fluid and a drain pump for pumping out the wash fluid. During the cleaning cycle, to detect blockage in the screen arrangement, a degree of transmission in the circulation chamber filled with wash fluid is determined with an optical turbidity sensor in a first measuring step. The wash fluid is then pumped out of the collection chamber and the degree of transmission in the circulation chamber is again determined in a second measuring step. The change in the degree of transmission from the first measuring step to the second measuring step is then evaluated.

Dishwasher with a screen system

A dishwasher includes a control facility for executing a wash cycle for cleaning items held in a wash chamber which is filled with water via a water inlet facility having an inlet valve operably connected to the control facility. To identify malfunction of the water inlet facility, the control facility executes an identification sequence which includes a test filling phase, in which the inlet valve is opened for a period corresponding to a predefined time value. A detection facility detects during operation of a recirculation pump to recirculate water in the wash chamber at least one operating parameter corresponding to a quantity of water in the wash chamber at an end of the test filling phase. The control facility determines a water flow into the wash chamber during the test filling phase from the detected operating parameter and compares the determined water flow with a minimum water flow.
