The invention relates to a method for operating a piston pump () which is driven by means of a coil () of an electromagnet. A piston () of the piston pump () can be moved in a cylinder () for pumping purposes by means of the electromagnet. A voltage (U) is applied to the coil () during a switch-on period such that a current flows through the coil () and the piston () is accelerated, said voltage being applied by means of an actuation device (). A time curve of an electric state variable (I, U) of the coil () is qualitatively detected, and the curve or a curve derived therefrom is analyzed in order to detect an impact of the piston () against a stop. The invention further relates to an actuation device and a piston pump.

Operating method and actuation device for a piston pump

A pump device includes an electrical delivery pump, a first port for an air filter, a second port for a fuel tank, a valve opening, a connecting line, a bypass line, and an electrical switching valve. The connecting line connects the ports via the valve opening, which has a valve seat formed at the opening, a valve body receptacle, and a valve body configured to interact with the seat and adjustable in a direction of the seat by a delivery flow of the delivery pump. The bypass line branches off from the connecting line upstream of the opening, and has a throttled bypass outlet opening into the connecting line downstream of the opening. The switching valve has an electrical actuator, for example a magnet coil, operable to move the body. Such a pump device requires less structural space and reduced production costs relative to conventional pump devices.

Pumping units are known to have an inlet channel, opening out into a pumping channel and tapering from an inlet cross section to an outlet into the pumping channel with an outlet cross-section. The flow is deflected through ninety degrees on entry to the pumping channel which induces strong swirling. The transition from the inlet channel into the pumping channel is not optimal for flow. This effect reduces the efficiency of the pumping unit. The inlet flow into the pumping channel is improved in the pumping unit according to the invention and hence efficiency is improved. According to the invention, the outlet is essentially provided in a first quadrant with relation to the inlet cross section and the tapering of the inlet channel essentially occurs in the other three quadrants. The tapering wall of the inlet channel is formed by a plane-generating shape which goes around from one side of the outlet to the other side of the outlet and is shaped to be increasingly flat relative to a plane of the outlet.
