A press comprises a press frame, at least one upper punch plate with at least one upper press punch held on it and/or at least one lower punch plate with at least one lower press punch held on it. A die plate has at least one receiver for powdered material to be pressed by the press punches. At least two upper drives are mechanically coupled in the operation of the press, engaging at the upper punch plate for moving the upper press punch in the vertical direction and/or at least two lower drives mechanically coupled in the operation of the press, engaging on the lower punch plate and/or the die plate for moving the lower press punch and/or the die plate in the vertical direction. A method for setting up and operating the press for producing a pellet made of the powdered material, in particular metal powder, is described.

Method for setting up and operating a press

A powder press has a die plate that supports at least one die, at least one upper press tool at an upper tool carrier, at least one lower press tool at a lower tool carrier, at least one upper linear drive acting on the upper tool carrier, at least one lower linear drive acting on the lower tool carrier or on the die plate, possibly a further linear drive acting on a transverse tool carrier, and a force measuring apparatus. The force measuring apparatus measures forces acting on the upper, lower and/or transverse tool carrier. Each linear drive may be at least two linear drives engaging eccentrically at the upper or lower tool carrier, respectively. The parallel spaced linear drives act together on a force transferring element, and the force transferring element acts on a tool carrier via spaced piezoelectric sensors.

Powder press

The invention relates to a method for producing a pellet from powdered material with the method steps: during a pressing process, a tipping of the upper and/or lower force transmission bridge and/or the upper and/or lower die plate and/or a force causing this tipping is measured; depending on the determined measurement results, the upper drive units and/or the lower drive units are moved asynchronously in relation to each other during the pressing process such that the caused tipping is compensated.

Method for producing a pellet from powdered material

Method for determining a reference for a powder press, which comprises a die plate for attaching a die and an upper adaptor plate which may be actuated by a drive which is hydraulic, mechanical, electric or the like for attaching an upper punch, a lower adaptor plate which may be actuated by a hydraulic drive for attaching a lower punch or the die plate and at least one distance measuring system for the upper and lower punch and/or the die plate with the following steps: a reference die and at least one reference punch are made, the reference die is attached to the die plate, by an optical measuring device usefully arranged on a base plate and/or die plate, the position of the upper edge of the reference die is measured and the position value stored, the reference die is removed, the adaptor plate with the reference punch previously attached therein, is moved in the direction of the die until the lower edge of the reference punch has reached the stored position of the upper edge of the reference die, the sum of the reference die measurement and the reference punch measurement is obtained as the distance of the adaptor plate from the die plate and stored.

Method and measuring system for obtaining a reference for a powder press

Powder press for the production of pressed articles of powder-shaped pressing material, having the following characteristics: a female mould plate with a least two female moulds or one female mould with at least two female die bores, at least two upper plungers, which co-operate with the female moulds and the female die bores, respectively, hydraulic cylinder for the upper plungers at least two bottom plungers, which co-operate with the female moulds and the female die bores, respectively hydraulic cylinders for the bottom plungers at least one position sensor for the upper plungers, and at least one position sensor for the bottom plungers force sensors for the individual hydraulic cylinders and a controlling means for the hydraulic cylinder or the hydraulic cylinders for the upper plungers and each one controlling means for the hydraulic cylinders for the bottom plungers.
