An actuator includes a screw mechanism () having a threaded nut () rotatable by an electric motor () about a longitudinal axis (x) and a screw () translatable along the axis between an axially extended position and an axially retracted position. The screw () is connectable to a wire (W) of a Bowden cable (C) having an outer sheath (S). The actuator has a casing () with a first, fixed transversal surface (). A cup () is mounted axially slidably on the casing () and has a second transversal surface () adapted for resting against an end of the sheath (S). A spring () is compressed between the first, fixed transversal surface () and the sliding cup (). The cup () is capable of reaching an axially extended position, corresponding to a released brake condition, and an axially retracted position towards the first fixed transversal surface (), against the bias of the spring (), corresponding to a brake actuated condition.

Electromechanical linear actuator for a parking brake

The actuator comprises a tubular nut () coupled by means of an external thread () to the casing () of the actuator. The nut has an internal thread () opposite the external thread, for engaging a threaded rod () which is prevented from rotating with respect to the casing. A geared motor () rotates a pinion () which, through two straight spur gears (), causes the nut () to bring about a screwing movement along a longitudinal axis (x), while the rod () translates rapidly in telescopic manner with respect to the casing (). The spur gears have a pinion portion of greater diameter () meshing with the pinion (), and a splined shaft portion () meshing with a pinion member () integral with the nut ().

Linear electromechanical screw actuator for a parking brake

A linear electromechanical actuator of the screw type for a parking brake including a tubular nut () coupled by means of an external thread to the casing () of the actuator and operated to perform a screwing movement about and along a longitudinal axis (x). The nut has an internal thread () opposite the external thread, for engaging a threaded rod () which is prevented from rotating with respect to the casing. Operation of the electrical motor () brings about a telescopic movement of the nut () and the rod () with respect to the casing (), with a rapid linear translation of the rod (x).
