A display and vision correction system includes a head-mounted display unit, a glasses frame, and a removable lens assembly. The head-mounted display unit is configured to be worn on a head of a user and includes a display for providing graphical content to the user. The glasses frame is configured to be worn on the head of the user. The removable lens assembly is removably coupleable to the head-mounted display unit and to the glasses frame. The removable lens assembly includes a corrective lens element.

Display and vision correction system with removable lens

A display system includes a display, a removable lens assembly, and a lens detection sensor. The removable lens is removably coupleable to the display. The lens detection sensor detects the removable lens assembly coupled to the display. The display system may further include a head-mounted display unit that includes the display and the lens detection sensor. The display system may lens information from the removable lens with the lens detection sensor, and may provide an indicator of the removable lens according to the lens information.

Display system with interchangeable lens

A lighting module which provides adjustably controllable illumination of a camera field of view of a camera module includes an adjustable collimator which can be adjustably positioned such that the emitted light beam is adjustably directed to illuminate various regions of various camera fields of view. The collimator can be adjusted via an actuator which adjustably positions the collimator relative to static components of the lighting module, including the light emitter. The light beam can be directed to illuminate a selected limited region of a camera field of view, based on identification of a subject within the limited region. The light beam can be adjustably directed based on user interactions with a user interface, including adjusting the light beam according to user-commanded beam angle, intensity, and direction. The light beam can be adjustably directed to illuminate a region according to different fields of view of different camera modules.

Focusing lighting module

Some implementations provide a multi-focus display system that renders images at multiple focus distances for display in conjunction with the use of appropriately powered lenses. For example, an HMD may include a fast switching lens element that allows quickly alternating between two or more focus distances. The displayed images are configured to correspond to the alternating focus distances by adjusting a high-frequency part of the images. This can provide a more natural user experience that will include near objects that require the user's eye to focus on a close focal depth plane and far objects that require the user's eye to focus on a far focal depth plane. Moreover, the user experience can be provided with little or no loss of brightness and without requiring processor and resource intensive computations.

Rendering for multi-focus display systems

Some implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that display images at multiple focus distances on HMDs. The systems can avoid or mitigate vergence-accommodation conflict (VAC) and depth-blur conflict (DBC) experienced by users on traditional HMDs. Some implementations use a geometric phase lens and a circular polarization switch. The geometric phase lens passively changes its power depending on the light's circular polarization. The circular polarization switch changes the polarization of the light at appropriate times. With the circular polarization switch and geometric phase lens positioned over an HMD screen, the system can quickly change the apparent distance to the screen, which in turn changes the accommodative state of the eye needed to focus on the rendered image.

An electronic device such as a head mounted device may have a display that displays an image for a user. Head-mounted support structures may be used to support the display and to support lenses. The image on the display is visible through the lenses from eye boxes. The presence of the user's nose and the presence of opaque lens holder structures presents a risk that some of the image will be obscured by undesired black regions. To reduce or eliminate these black regions, facial illumination may be generated using a light source in the electronic device. The facial illumination may be provided by a light source such as a light-emitting diode die or laser or may be provided by a corner region of the display that contains pixels that do not supply any part of the image.

A head-mounted display may include a display system and a lens system in a housing. The head-mounted display may include control circuitry that operates the head-mounted display in an active use mode and a protected mode. In the protected mode, the display system may be protected from collisions with the lens system. Placing the head-mounted display in the protected mode may include using an actuator to increase the distance between the display system and the lens system, may include injecting fluid between the display system and the lens system, and/or may include deploying a protective layer between the display system and the lens system. The control circuitry may determine whether to operate the head-mounted display in protected mode or active use mode based on sensor data, on/off status information, location information, and/or other information.

Optical system for head-mounted display

A light source module includes an array of illumination elements and a light diffusing material. The light source module is configured to receive a control signal for adjusting diffusion of light emitted from the light source module and in response adjust the amount of diffusion of light emitted from the light source module. A light source module may include a segmented light diffusing material where each segment is associated with an illumination element. And individual segments may have light diffusing properties that are different than other segments of the light diffusing material. Some illumination elements may emit light of a different color spectrum than other illumination elements, and a light diffusing material may scatter the different colored light to illuminate a scene with combinations of light of different colors. A light source module may be embedded in a mobile computing device.

The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for detecting and indicating laser radiation comprising a laser device () producing the laser radiation, such as rotation lasers or line lasers, and an indicating device () with at least one laser beam detector and at least one indicating element () which indicates the detected laser radiation. In order to precisely indicate the position of the laser radiation to be detected using uncomplicated circuitry, it is proposed that the at least one laser beam detector and the at least one indicating element are the same component in form of an LED ().

Arrangement and method for detecting and indicating laser radiation

A method for operating a construction laser by means of a remote controller, which has an input field, for initiating an action of the construction laser, wherein the remote control unit contains a sensor for determining a change in a parameter of the remote control unit, and the change in the parameter influences the at least one action, wherein the parameter is a parameter from the group comprising position, tilt, and movement of the remote control unit, and the action is an action or one operating mode from the group comprising rotational speed of the laser head, cross-sectional mode, mask mode, scan mode, tilt of the plane spanned by the particularly rotating laser beam, and point mode. To enable easy handling, following activation of the input field, the action is initiated only when the degree of change in the parameter of the remote control unit has reached a threshold value.

Method for operating a construction laser

Systems and methods to measure signal propagation delay through objects. The system includes a controller, a single shot pulse generator, a first pulse/edge former, a multiplexer/demultiplexer, a second pulse/edge former, a timer, and a counter. The controller initializes the system, the clock and the counter. A pulse is sent from the single shot pulse generator to the first pulse/edge former. The pulse is propagated through the first pulse/edge former to the multiplexer, through a device under test, to the demultiplexer, and to the second pulse/edge former. The second pulse edge generator provides the pulse to the counter, which counts a predetermined number of pulses, and the clock, which measures the amount of time the counter counts the pulses. The propagation delay of the device under test is then calculated based on the counted number of pulses and the elapsed time measured by the clock.
