A method for correcting an angular deviation between a real angle and an ideal angle between motion axes of a coordinate measuring device. The angular deviation depends on position, temperature, and/or loading mass. Values of a position-dependent angular deviation for partial measurement ranges of the coordinate measuring device are determined, and/or a difference between the angular deviation in a partial measurement range and a total measurement range, and the position-dependent angular deviation is corrected by using these values. Values of the temperature-dependent angular deviation for at least two different temperatures are determined and the deviation is corrected based on these. Values of the loading-mass-dependent angular deviation for loading the coordinate measuring device with at least two different loading masses are determined in a range of loading masses and/or information is obtained for correcting the loading-mass-dependent angular deviation in a temperature range and the deviation is corrected by using one of the values or information.

A method for scanning a work piece surface uses a coordinate measurement device. A probe element is brought into contact with the surface and the probe element is moved along the surface. The coordinate measurement device has a plurality of degrees of freedom, which are independent of one another, in the possible movements of the probe element with respect to the work piece. Maximum speeds which describe the maximum of a movement speed component of the probe element based on the respective degree of freedom are defined for the degrees of freedom. An estimated path on which the probe element is intended to move during scanning is predefined. The actual scanning path can differ from the estimated scanning path. Method for scanning a surface with the aid of a coordinate measuring machine and coordinate measuring machine

A method for correcting errors in a coordinate measuring machine having a measuring head which is adapted to move in at least two different spatial directions. Measuring scales and measuring lines are assigned to each spatial direction. The measuring lines of different spatial directions intersect, and correction values are determined along the measuring lines at predetermined values of the scales in order to correct for elastic and/or geometric errors of the scales and/or of the guiding mechanism for moving the measuring head. According to one aspect of the invention, the correction values determined along a measuring line of a first spatial direction are modified such that the modified correction value of this measuring line assumes a predetermined value at the point of intersection with a first measuring line of a second spatial direction.
