A multi-static radar detection system for a vehicle includes one or more receivers for collecting multi-carrier modulation signals emitted by one or more transmitters that are positioned at base stations located in an environment surrounding the vehicle. The multi-carrier modulation signals include one or more types of reference signals. The multi-static radar detection system also includes one or more controllers in electronic communication with the one or more receivers. The one or more controllers execute instructions to collect, by the one or more receivers, a multi-carrier modulation signal emitted by the one or more transmitters. The one or more controllers determine a Doppler shift and a time delay of a respective object located within the environment surrounding the vehicle based on an interpolated time-frequency grid; and transform a value for the Doppler shift into a velocity value and a value for the time delay into a range value.

Multi-static radar detection system for a vehicle

Novel channel estimation techniques that can be performed solely in the analog domain are provided. The techniques use continuous analog channel estimation (CACE), periodic analog channel estimation (PACE), and multiantenna frequency shift reference (MAFSR). These techniques provide sufficient channel knowledge to enable analog beamforming at the receiver while significantly reducing the estimation overhead. These schemes involve transmission of a reference tone of a known frequency, either continuously along with the data (CACE, MAFSR) or in a separate phase from data (PACE). Analysis of the methods show that sufficient receiver beamforming gain can be achieved in sparse channels by building the beamformer using just the amplitude and phase estimates of the reference tone from each receiver antenna.

Analog channel estimation techniques for beamformer design in massive MIMO systems

The present embodiments relate to multi user detection in distributed antenna systems. A communication system may include a central processing circuitry and a plurality of access points connected to the central processing circuitry via a fronthaul interface. Each access point of the plurality of access points may include a plurality of antennas configured to receive signals from a plurality of UEs, and a local processing circuitry connected to the plurality of antennas. The local processing circuitry may be configured to estimate channel properties of a MIMO channel between the UEs and the antennas of the access point, and determine a subset of the UEs using the channel properties. The local processing circuitry may transmit data associated with the subset of wireless communication devices to the central processing circuitry for use to perform multiuser detection at the central processing circuitry.

Systems and methods for multiuser detection in distributed antenna systems

The present disclosure generally relates to localization and, more particularly, to remote localization and radio-frequency identification using a combination of structural and antenna mode scattering responses. A method and system include receiving location data of an object from a plurality of transmitter-reader pairs (TRPs); generating a plurality of first ellipses representing the received location data; determining blocking likelihoods at points of intersection between the plurality of first ellipses; generating additional ellipses representing additional location data received from additional TRPs; and updating the blocking likelihoods at points of intersection between the plurality of first ellipses and the additional ellipses.

Remote localization and radio-frequency identification using a combination of structural and antenna modes scattering responses

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device, process or software that determines an operation between a number of pairs of antennas of a set of antennas. A pair of antennas of the number of pairs of antennas is determined based on the operation. One antenna of the pair of antennas is eliminated from the set of antennas, which results in a reduced number of antennas remaining in the set of antennas. Each of the determining of the operation, the determining of the pair of antennas of the reduced number of antennas and the eliminating of the one antenna of the pair of antennas is repeated in response to the reduced number of antennas being greater than a predetermined number of antennas. Method of selecting receive antennas for MIMO systems

A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for transmitting information in massive MIMO system. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a plurality of antenna elements; a baseband processor; a plurality of radio-frequency (RF) chains coupled to the baseband processor; a plurality of switches coupled to the plurality of RF chains, wherein positions of switches in the plurality of switches being determined by instantaneous channel state information; a radio-frequency (RF) preprocessor coupled between the plurality of switches and the plurality of antenna elements, the RF preprocessor to apply a preprocessing matrix to signals, elements of the preprocessing matrix being adjusted as a function of average channel state information, and wherein the positions of the switches and elements of the preprocessing matrix are jointly chosen, and wherein the preprocessing matrix is chosen based on a metric related to expected performance obtained from at least one channel realization.

Transceivers and methods for use in transmitting information in a massive MIMO system

A single wireless slave node may be in a timing virtual network (TVN) with neighboring wireless slave nodes. The single wireless slave node may store information indicative of the identity, link propagation delay, and channel signature of each of its neighboring wireless slave nodes. The single wireless slave node may repeatedly update a timing estimate based on the stored information and by performing a physical layer fast reference signal broadcast transmission and reception.

Timing synchronization of wireless networks

A method of performing receive antenna selection is presented. The method executes a determination operation for a set of receive antennas, determines a maximum result of the determination operation for two of the antennas, eliminates one of the two antennas from the set of antennas, and repeats the determination and elimination process until only a predetermined number of antennas remain in the set. The signals from these remaining antennas are then processed. The present invention reduces receiver complexity and cost.

A method selects antennas in a multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) wireless local area network (WLAN) that includes a plurality of stations, and each station includes a set of antennas. Plural consecutive packets, received at a station, include plural consecutive sounding packets. Each sounding packet corresponds to a different subset of the set of antennas, and at least one of the plural consecutive packets includes a high throughput (HT) control field including a signal to initiate antenna selection and a number N indicative of a number of sounding packets which follow the at least one packet including the HT control field and which are to be used for antenna selection. A channel matrix is estimated based on a characteristic of the channel as indicated by the received N sounding packets, and a subset of antennas is selected according to the channel matrix. Station and computer program product embodiments include similar features.

Antenna/beam selection training in MIMO wireless LANS with different sounding frames

A base station transmits a set of sounding requests to a set of mobile station (MS) in a cell, using a set of beams, wherein there is one beam for each sounding request. Qualities of sounding signals transmitted by the set of MSs in response to receiving the sounding request are measured, and the set of MSs are grouped into subsets according to the qualities, wherein there is one subset of MSs associated with each beam.
