Disclosed is a connection pole for a rechargeable battery. The connection pole has a connection region for securing a pole terminal to the connection pole, and a securing region for securing the connection pole to a housing part of the rechargeable battery. The connection region is in particular of circular or substantially circular form at least at its end facing the securing region, wherein a circumferential region is provided in an end region, which faces the connection region, of the securing region, which circumferential region at least substantially has a ring shape and, for the purpose of preventing rotation of the connection pole, has on its outer circumference a tooth system projecting radially from the circumferential region. Here, the diameter of the substantially ring-shaped circumferential region is consistently smaller than the diameter of that end of the connection region which faces the securing region.

A lead-acid battery is disclosed. The lead-acid battery has a container with a cover and includes one or more compartments. One or more cell elements are provided in the one or more compartments. The one or more cell elements comprise a positive electrode, the positive electrode having a positive substrate and a positive electrochemically active material on the positive substrate; a negative electrode, the negative electrode having a negative substrate and a negative active mass on the negative substrate, wherein the negative active mass comprises a leady oxide, a synthetic organic expander, a very fine particle barium sulfate, and plurality of conductive carbons; and an absorbent glass mat separator between the positive plate and the negative plate. Electrolyte is provided within the container. One or more terminal posts extend from the container or the cover and are electrically coupled to the one or more cell elements. A negative electrode for a lead-acid battery and a battery having improved performance are also disclosed.

Disclosed is a pole socket for an energy storage system, having a connecting element with a first end region and with a second end region, a connection element which is arranged on the first end region and which is configured to make electrical contact with electrical consumers, and a contacting element which is arranged on the second end region of the connecting element and which is configured to make electrical contact with a pole shaft. The connection element extends in a first direction of extent proceeding from the connecting element, and wherein the contacting element extends in a second direction of extent proceeding from the connecting element. The second direction of extent runs parallel and in the opposite direction with respect to the first direction of extent, such that the contacting element is arranged offset from the connection element.

The electrochemical battery has an electrode plate comprising a frame and a generally flat grid connected to the frame, the frame comprising at least a top frame member having a contact lug, wherein the grid comprises a plurality of grid wires and a plurality of window-like open areas between the grid wires, further comprising an active mass within the open areas and/or on the grid wires, wherein the electrode plate comprises on one outer surface or on both opposing outer surfaces of the active mass a pattern of grooves, wherein the grooves extend diagonally from a position closer to the top frame member to a position further away from the top frame member. The invention relates to a battery cell connector with a first and a second substantially flat limb (), wherein the first limb () has a connecting side () for connection to a plurality of electrodes of a battery, the second limb () is arranged at an angle with respect to the first limb () and extends from that side () of the first limb which is opposite the connection side (), wherein a shoulder () is provided which extends from the first to the second limb.
