A method for determining a temperature of a fluid flowing through a pipe section includes: determining a temperature of the pipe section; obtaining a reference temperature at a distance from a surface of the pipe section; determining a heat transfer behaviour, in particular a thermal resistance, of a boundary layer of the fluid on an inner wall of the pipe section based on at least one material property and/or at least one value of a state variable of the fluid; and determining the temperature of the fluid based on the heat transfer behaviour of the boundary layer, a heat transfer behavior, in particular a thermal resistance, of the pipe section, the temperature of the pipe section, and the reference temperature.

Method for non-intrusively determining the temperature of a fluid flowing through a conduit portion

A method for testing a temperature measuring instrument is presented, where the instrument includes at least one sensor that changes its electrical resistance, and/or an electrical voltage that it produces, in response to being exposed to a change in temperature, and where the instrument is configured to be coupled to an object of interest. The method includes changing the temperature of at least one sensor by an amount that is detectable given the measurement resolution of the at least one sensor, by driving an electrical manipulation current through this sensor; obtaining one or measurement values from at least one sensor; and evaluating a state of the measuring instrument, a state of one or more of its sensors, and/or a state of a coupling to an object of interest, from the one or more measurement values.

Testing method for non-invasive temperature measuring instruments

A method for controlling a robot includes the steps of: deciding whether there is a non-permanent object in a vicinity of the robot; if there is a non-permanent object, deciding whether the object qualifies for extended protection or not; and defining a safety zone around the object which the robot must not enter or in which a maximum allowed speed of the robot is less than outside the safety zone. The safety zone extends to a greater distance from the object if the object qualifies for extended protection than if it does not.

Robot control method

A temperature measuring device for determining a medium temperature by a temperature of a measuring point on a surface enclosing the medium includes: at least one measuring sensor; at least one reference sensor; and a measured value processing device which is connected via a cable to the at least one measuring sensor and via a cable to the at least one reference sensor. The at least one measuring sensor and the at least one reference sensor are arranged along a main thermal connection path between the surface enclosing the medium and surroundings. The at least one measuring sensor is arranged close to the measuring point. A thermal resistance between a relevant measuring sensor and the at least one reference sensor is smaller than a thermal resistance between a relevant reference sensor and the surroundings.

Temperature measuring device and method for determining temperature

A device for measuring a strain of an object independently of temperature variations includes: at least one strain gauge that is attachable directly or indirectly to the object whose strain is to be measured; a first temperature sensor for measuring a temperature of the at least one strain gauge; read-out electronics for measuring a change of electrical resistance of the at least one strain gauge as a measured electrical resistance change, the read-out electronics including at least one fixed resistor whose value is relied upon when obtaining a value of the change of electrical resistance of the strain gauge as a result of the measurement, the read-out electronics being such that a temperature of the at least one fixed resistor is known and/or obtainable by measurement; and an evaluation unit for: correcting the measured electrical resistance change, and/or a strain of the strain gauge and/or the strain of the object.

Temperature-compensated strain gauge measurements

A distance measuring system includes: at least one emitter, which emits a frequency-variable scanning signal; at least one receiver; and an analysis unit for computing a distance to an object reflecting the scanning signal on the basis of a difference between the frequencies of the emitted and the received scanning signal. The rate of change of the frequency of the scanning signal in a first operating mode of the distance measuring system has a first finite value. The rate of change of the frequency in a second operating mode has a second finite value. The analysis unit is configured to compute a first distance on the basis of a frequency difference ascertained in the first operating mode, to compute a second distance on the basis of a frequency difference ascertained in the second operating mode, and to evaluate the correspondence between first and second computed distance.

Distance measuring system and method, and robot system using same

A surface temperature sensor has a first geometric contact surface for determining the temperature in a vessel and a second geometric contact surface, wherein the first geometric contact surface and the second geometric contact surface are in point and/or linear contact and at least partially spaced variably from this. For improvement of thermal contact an adapter between the first geometric contact surface and the second geometric contact surface may be made of metal, whereby the process vessel facing side has a polygonal surface structure and the temperature sensor facing side of a sack-shaped recess.
