Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus and computer program products for transmitting and receiving an uplink signal on physical control channel. A method comprises: determining that a terminal device has a capability of transmitting the uplink signal on physical control channel in at least a first time instant and a second time instant coherently; performing a first transmission of the uplink signal on physical control channel in the first time instant in a first set of subcarriers; and performing a second transmission of the uplink signal on physical control channel in the second time instant in a second set of subcarriers.

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

Embodiments include methods for user equipment (UE) random access to a cell in a wireless network. Such methods include selecting one of a plurality of available random-access preambles and mapping the selected random-access preamble to one of a plurality of available physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource units (PRUs) based on a mapping constraint. In the mapping constraint, one or more of the available PRUs are not used for the mapping and an integer number of the available random-access preambles are mapped to each of the available PRUs that are used for the mapping. Such methods also include transmitting the selected random-access preamble on a random access channel (RACH) and transmitting a data message on the PRU mapped to the selected random-access preamble. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a network node, as well as UEs and network nodes configured to perform such methods.

Methods for balancing resources utilized in random-access procedures

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. A method for a network node of a cellular communication network is disclosed. The network node is adapted to communicate with a wireless communication device. The method comprises acquiring location-related parameters of the wireless communication device, dynamically determining&#x2014;based on the acquired location-related parameters&#x2014;a transmission pattern of reference signals (wherein the reference signals are for mobility measurements by the wireless communication device), indicating the determined transmission pattern to the wireless communication device and transmitting the reference signals in accordance with the determined transmission pattern. Dynamically determining the transmission pattern may be further based on handover statistics associated with the location-related parameters. The location-related parameters may comprise at least one of a geographical position of the wireless communication device and a travelling speed of the wireless communication device. The location-related parameters may further comprise a travelling direction of the wireless communication device. Corresponding arrangement, network node and computer program product are also disclosed.

Determination of reference signal transmission pattern

A method for a network node of a cellular communication network is disclosed. The network node and at least some other network nodes of the cellular communication network are each adapted to support a plurality of beams of a signal beam-forming scheme and to communicate with a wireless communication device using at least one of the plurality of beams. The method comprises identifying one or more candidate beams, causing transmission of a reference signal on each of the candidate beams, causing reservation of an uplink resource of at least one of the candidate beams (wherein the uplink resources are for conveying a report from the wireless communication device, and wherein the report is indicative of a result of measurements of the reference signals), and causing the communication with the wireless communication device to use a target beam (wherein one of the candidate beams is selected as the target beam based on the conveyed report). A corresponding method for a wireless communication device is also disclosed, as well as a computer program product, respective arrangements for a network node and a wireless communication device, a network node and a wireless communication device.

Mobility for beam-forming systems

The disclosure relates to a method for use in a wireless device in a wireless communication system for transmitting uplink control information, UCI, the method comprising obtaining UCI comprising a number of UCI bits, mapping the UCI bits to a set of modulation symbols, obtaining a resource configuration, wherein the resource configuration is at least indicative of one or more allocated resources available for transmission of the modulation symbols, mapping the modulation symbols to the resource configuration, wherein the resource configuration is further indicative of allocated subcarriers comprised in the one or more allocated resources, and transmitting the modulation symbols using the allocated subcarriers.

Wireless device and a network node for a wireless communication system

A method for a network node of a cellular communication network is disclosed. The network node and at least some other network nodes of the cellular communication network are each adapted to support a plurality of beams of a signal beam-forming scheme and to communicate with a wireless communication device using at least one of the plurality of beams. The method comprises initiating a mobility procedure, identifying interfering signals transmitted by one or more interfering beams, decreasing a transmit power level of the identified interfering signals, and executing at least part of the mobility procedure while the identified interfering signals use the decreased transmit power level. The mobility procedure may, typically, comprise transmission of a reference signal on each of one or more candidate beams (wherein the reference signals are for measurement by the wireless communication device), reception of a report from the wireless communication device (wherein the report is indicative of a result of measurements of the reference signals and is for making a beam switch decision), and execution of the beam switch (if applicable). Corresponding computer program product, arrangement and network node are also disclosed.

There is provided a method for handling mobility synchronization measurements. The method is performed by a wireless device. The method comprises receiving an indication to perform mobility measurements on a set of transmission beams associated with a unique identity. The method comprises checking if the unique identity has previously been stored by the wireless device. The method comprises, if the unique identity has not previously been stored by the wireless device, performing mobility measurements on the set of transmission beams to determine synchronization information of the set of transmission beams. The method comprises storing the unique identity and the synchronization information of the mobility measurements.

Mobility synchronization measurements

There is provided a method and a network node for allocating and transmitting Mobility Reference Signals, MRS, for a communication device to measure beam signal quality in a wireless communication network. The network node obtains information on one or more of a frequency diversity, a time diversity of a channel between the network node and the communication device, an antenna spatial diversity of the communication device. The network node selects an MRS pattern out of a set of candidate patterns based on the received information, signals the selected MRS pattern to the communication device and transmits the MRS according to the selected MRS pattern.
