A computer-implemented method for supplementing measurement results of automated analyzers is presented. The method includes obtaining, at a computer device, a result of a measurement performed by an automated analyzer, the computer device and the automated analyzer being located within a privileged computer network, obtaining a context related algorithm associated with the result of the measurement defining one or more triggering conditions and context related information from a computer device residing outside of the privileged computer network at the computer device and processing the result of the measurement by using the context related algorithm to generate a context specific supplement to the result of the measurement at the computer device.

Supplementing measurement results of automated analyzers

A reagent management system is disclosed comprising a reagent container section for receiving reagent containers and a reagent reconstitution device for reconstituting dry, or lyophilized, reagents or concentrated reagents in reagent containers in order to carry out in-vitro diagnostic tests with the reconstituted reagents. A controller is programmed to instruct the reagent reconstitution device to automatically reconstitute an initial volume of a selected reagent type in reagent containers. The initial volume is calculated based on an open container stability time (OCS) of the reconstituted reagent type for each reagent container and on a number of tests to be carried out within the OCS of the reconstituted reagent type. A reagent container for use by the reagent management system and methods of automatically reconstituting a dry, or lyophilized reagent, or a concentrated liquid reagent in a reagent container to carry out an in-vitro diagnostic test with the reagent are disclosed.

A method for conducting platelet aggregation analysis by a cartridge device, including providing a blood sample in the cartridge device, stirring the blood sample within the cartridge device, measuring the electrical impedance between electrodes to obtain measured electrical impedance values, comparing measured electrical impedance values, discarding and repeating the measurements of the electrical impedance in case a variation of the measurements is outside a predetermined threshold range, or reporting the measured electrical impedance values in case the variation of the measurements is within the predetermined threshold range. Reported measured electrical impedance values indicate platelet aggregation in a blood sample.

To increase the adhesion strength of coagulated blood on a surface by increasing the surface interaction of blood-inherent components like fibrin/fibrinogen and thrombocytes it is described to treat the surface by exposing it to ionized atoms or molecules. The surface treatment according to the invention is applied on plastic disposables used in blood diagnostics (e.g. hemostasis analysis) as well as medical implants like artery sealings. The improved blood clot adhesion results in higher diagnostic security due to reduced measurement failure (e.g., for patients with increased thrombocyte content) and in better significance of special tests (e.g., hyperfibrinolysis diagnosis).

Device with novel and improved surface properties

A hematological assay is described in which the blood coagulation potential of a body fluid is assessed by reacting a sample of the body fluid with an amount of an activator reagent comprising: (a) a predetermined amount of factor Xa or a hematologically equivalent mutant thereof, and (b) a predetermined amount of factor Va, a hematologically equivalent mutant thereof or an enzyme activating endogenous factor V, (c) (optionally) phospholipids. The reagent may be dry (e.g. lyophilised) or in an aqueous solution preferably buffered to a pH from 6 to 10 (preferably 7 to 8), if desired incubating, if necessary inducing coagulation by the addition of one or more coagulation accelerants such as calcium chloride, and establishing a value indicative of the coagulation potential, e.g. by measuring the time to clotting on an optical coagulometer or through use of a chromogenic substrate. It is preferred to use at (b) factor V activator from purified Russell's Viper venom (RVV-V). An activator reagent is also described containing the components mentioned above preferably in one or more buffer solutions or in dried, e.g. lyophilised form.
