An electromechanical brake system has a brake actuator with a power transmission for transmitting an actuating force to a brake pad. The power transmission includes a rotatable shaft, a coupler with a locking element, wherein the coupler can be controlled so that the locking element is engaged with the rotatable shaft and blocks its rotation or so that the locking element is disengaged from the rotatable shaft so that the rotatable shaft can be rotated. The brake system has a first receptacle into which a first tool can be inserted so that it engages with the rotatable shaft and transmits a rotation on the rotatable shaft.

Electromechanical brake system and method for releasing an electro-mechanical brake system

A parking brake apparatus is provided for a vehicle including a vehicle drive train that extends between a vehicle propulsion engine and a vehicle wheel. The parking brake apparatus comprises a wheel drum located away from the vehicle wheel and fixedly attached to a drivetrain shaft that extends along a portion of the vehicle drive train between the vehicle propulsion engine and the vehicle wheel. The parking brake apparatus also comprises activatable drum brake components disposed in an interior chamber of the wheel drum. When activated, the drum brake components apply a clamping force to the wheel drum to prevent the wheel drum and the drivetrain shaft fixedly attached thereto from rotating and thereby preventing the vehicle wheel from rotating to provide the vehicle with a parking brake functionality.

A method adjusts the slack of a brake assembly having a brake disc, a brake pad, an actuator with an output shaft driven in a forward direction to bring the brake pad and brake disc into frictional engagement defining a braking position and a reverse direction to disengage the brake pad and brake disc and to move the brake pad into a rest position, and a slack adjuster for adjusting a predetermined axial slack distance between the brake pad and the brake disc. A brake assembly includes a brake disc in rotational engagement with a wheel of a vehicle, a brake pad which frictionally engages the brake disc in a dynamic braking operation and a parking brake operation, a dynamic actuator adapted to bring the brake pad and brake disc into the frictional engagement in the dynamic braking operation, and a parking brake actuator associated with the dynamic actuator such that, in the parking brake operation, the frictional engagement of the brake disc and brake pad is maintained.

A brake system for a vehicle includes a first brake device for braking a first wheel of the vehicle, a second brake device for braking a second wheel of the vehicle, a first brake pedal which is paired with the first wheel, a second brake pedal which is paired with the second wheel, a brake control valve which is designed to act on the first brake device and/or the second brake device, a first control valve for controlling a brake pressure in the first brake device, and a second control valve for controlling a brake pressure in the second brake device. The brake system further has an electromechanical switching module in order to block or at least reduce a braking effect of the second brake device while the first brake pedal is being actuated, and the switching module is designed to block or at least reduce a braking effect of the first brake device while the second brake pedal is being actuated.
