The invention describes an implantable pressure sensor having a housing, wherein the housing has walls and two or more pressure transfer membranes bounding an internal volume, wherein the pressure transfer membranes are not coplanar.

Implantable pressure sensor

An implantable pressure sensor device () has a housing () which is at least partially made of a pressure transmitting membrane (), and which includes one or more regions which can reversibly deform while maintaining the surface area of the membrane () when the internal volume of the housing () is changed. The housing () has a non-circular cross-section which can deform to a more circular shape when pressure in the internal volume increases. An inner housing is preferably situated within the housing, with its exterior spaced from the interior of the housing, and has its inner volume in fluid communication with the space between the housing and inner housing.

Implantable pressure sensor device

An implantable medical device including at least one elongate electrical line with a first electrical component as a functional conductor, and at least one second electrical component with an electrical length. The first electrical component includes a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the distal side is in electrical contact with tissue or blood. The first electrical component is in electrical contact with the at least one second electrical component, and wherein the electrical length of the at least one second component corresponds to at least a tenth of a wavelength (&#x3bb;/10) of electromagnetic waves in a radiofrequency range.

A catheter arrangement including a catheter having a proximal end and a distal end and at least one continuous fluid channel, at the proximal end of which a fluid connection and at the distal end of which a nozzle is arranged, which has a cross section that can be varied by a force applied to the distal catheter end; a liquid feed unit, connected to the proximal fluid connection of the catheter feeds liquid into the at least one fluid channel at a predetermined operating pressure. A flow sensor measures, during operation of the catheter arrangement, a pressure drop at the fluid channel. A pressure evaluation unit, connected on the input side in a signal-based manner to the flow sensor, determines a force applied to the distal end of the catheter from the measured pressure drop at the fluid channel and from predetermined deformation characteristics of the associated nozzle.

A fiber-optic force sensor, comprising an FBG fiber that has a force sensor region, to which bracing means to eliminate or decouple laterally effective forces and bending moments are assigned in such a way that the force sensor has a predominantly single-axis response characteristic to detect merely the magnitude of a force acting axially in the fiber direction.

At least one embodiment of the invention relates to a catheter arrangement comprising a catheter with a proximal section and a distal section, to measure a force acting on the distal section and simultaneously receive a temperature signal prevailing in the distal section. According to at least one embodiment of the invention, the catheter arrangement comprises an evaluation unit connected to a single combined optical force and temperature sensor, and further comprises a readout signal generator to generate and feed a readout signal modulated with a carrier frequency into the force sensor and temperature sensor. According to at least one embodiment of the invention, the catheter arrangement comprises a first readout device to read out a first modulated measuring signal portion, a second readout means to read out a second unmodulated measuring signal portion, and a processing unit to combine the first and second measuring signal portions.
