An agricultural implement includes a tool moveable between a first position at which the tool engages soil within a field and a second position at which the tool is positioned above the soil. Furthermore, the agricultural implement includes a driven actuator including a driven rod coupled to the tool such that the driven actuator is configured to move the tool between the first and second positions. Additionally, the agricultural implement includes a regeneration actuator having a regeneration rod coupled to the tool such that the regeneration rod moves when the driven rod moves. Moreover, the agricultural implement includes an accumulator fluidly coupled to the regeneration cylinder such that, when the driven rod moves the tool toward the first position, the regeneration actuator supplies hydraulic fluid to the accumulator and, when the driven rod moves the tool toward the second position, the accumulator supplies the hydraulic fluid to the regeneration cylinder.

System and method for controlling the operation of an agricultural implement

A method for grouping hydraulic functions associated with an agricultural implement includes accessing parameter data associated with hydraulic fluid used to drive a plurality of hydraulic functions of the implement, the hydraulic fluid being supplied from one of at least two pumps. The method also includes determining delivery pump pressures for the pumps for each of a plurality of different pump/function combinations based at least in part on the hydraulic parameter data and determining a power parameter requirement for the pumps for each of the different pump/function combinations based at least in part on the delivery pump pressures. In addition, the method includes selecting a desired pump/function combination based at least in part on the power parameter requirement, and controlling an operation of a plurality of switching valves such that the hydraulic fluid is supplied for driving the hydraulic functions in accordance with the desired pump/function combination.

A hydraulic drive system for an agricultural implement includes a high pressure supply line configured to provide hydraulic fluid under pressure. The hydraulic drive system also includes a low pressure return line configured to return the hydraulic fluid. Devices and systems relating to external gear machines that comprise microsurface shaping on the lateral surfaces of the gear teeth and/or bushing surfaces are provided. Such microsurface shaping may comprise a flat step to linear wedge profile, a flat step to flat step profile, or solely a linear wedge profile. The incorporation of microsurface shaping on the gear teeth and/or bushing plates contributes to improving the lubrication performance within the external gear machine and provides significant benefits, including the improvement of operating efficiency, life, and reliability of the system components. Methods for manufacturing the gear teeth and related bushings are also provided, the methods configured to optimize the overall axial balance within the system.
