A network element for a digital transmission network is proposed. The network element contains two switching matrices for switching data cells, as well as ingress ports that receive TDM traffic flow and packet traffic flow and segment the traffic flows into cells. A control system for controlling the configuration of the ingress ports and the switching matrices controls the ingress ports, in case of no failure of the switching matrices, to forward the TDM traffic flows to both switching matrices and to split the packet traffic flow over the two switching matrices.

Device and method for switching data traffic in a digital transmission network

There is described a method for monitoring at a management terminal events of a given type occurring in a communication network. The communication network comprises a plurality of network elements. The management terminal has a browser suitable for supporting a web like management graphic interface. The method comprises: at one of the network elements, providing a monitoring module; at the management terminal, transmitting to the monitoring module a request for monitoring the events of the given type, the request including an access token suitable for obtaining authorization to access a monitoring channel between the monitoring module and the management terminal; at the monitoring module: listening for possible management information relative to the events, each time the management information are received, processing it to generate updating data, using the access token for accessing the monitoring channel and transmitting the updating data to the management terminal through the monitoring channel.

Method for monitoring events in a communication network

There is disclosed an anti-intrusion method for a communication network comprising a plurality of network elements. The method comprising the following steps: a) providing a passive monitoring component, a decision making component, and an action making component cooperating with the communication network; b) at the passive monitoring component, detecting management information indicative of an attack against at least one network element, processing the management information thus generating infection data and transmitting the infection data to the decision making component; c) at the decision making component, receiving the infection data, making a decision about an action to be carried out to block the attack, and transmitting the decision to the action making component; and d) at the action making component, based on the decision, instructing the at least one network element to perform the action.

Anti-intrusion method and system for a communication network

A method for identifying an error cause affecting the configuration of a network element controlled by a network manager is described. The method includes the step of transmitting from the network element to the network manager a message including a first field for indicating if a configuration error occurs in the network element. The message further includes a second field for indicating the configuration error cause, wherein the configuration error cause is dynamically selected out from a configuration information stored into the network element.

Method and network element for improving error management in managed networks, and computer program product therefor

Disclosed is a method of distributing data in a telecommunication network, the network comprising a central node, a first target node and a second target node. The method comprises: a) providing a first file comprising at least a first compressed data set addressed to the first target node and a second compressed data set addressed to the second target node; b) identifying in the first file at least a first file portion comprising the first compressed data set and a second file portion comprising the second compressed data set; and c) forwarding the first file portion to the first target node, and forwarding the second file portion to the second target node, wherein the steps b) and c) are performed in the central node.
