A detection device for simultaneously detecting tangential and normal components of a force acting at a brake caliper or suspension of a vehicle wheel has a plate-shaped casing having a force sensor assembly for detecting normal and tangential force components and for generating one or more electrical signals representative of detected normal and tangential force components. The detection device has an electrical interface for conducting and making the one or more generated electrical signals available. A device and a system for determining a braking force due to action of a vehicle brake caliper and a brake caliper system with a braking force estimation function are also provided. Methods for simultaneously detecting tangential and normal components of a force acting at a brake caliper or exchanged between an axle and a suspension of the wheel and for determining a braking force due to action of a vehicle brake caliper are also provided.

Device and method for a simultaneous detection of tangential and normal forces acting in a detection point at a brake caliper or at a suspension of a vehicle wheel

A detection device for detecting a braking force applied by a brake caliper on a hub holder is configured to be mounted at a fastening interface between the brake caliper and the hub holder and has a low-friction body, a caliper-hub-holder connection element, a sensor element, and an electrical interface. The low-friction body puts into contact the brake caliper and the hub holder at the fixing interface. The caliper-hub-holder connection element, configured to be mechanically connected to the brake caliper and the hub holder, is susceptible of deformation. The low-friction body decouples tightening forces from the braking forces to minimize the effect of the tightening forces on the detection device. The sensor element detects strains and generates electrical signals indicative of detected strains and representative of the braking force. The electrical interface is connected to the sensor element for conducting and making available the generated electrical signals. A method and a system for determining a braking torque are also provided.

A method for manufacturing a brake disc includes providing at least one sheet of predefined thickness, blanking a first disc-shaped portion in the at least one sheet adapted to make a first plate of a ventilated braking band, blanking a second disc-shaped portion in the at least one sheet adapted to make a second plate of the ventilated braking band, blanking a third portion in the at least one sheet adapted to make at least one ventilation spacer for the ventilated braking band, drawing the third portion by shaping first and second protrusions, forming opposite first and second recesses adapted to make ventilation channels, connecting the first disc-shaped portion to the first protrusion by discontinuous weld spots, and connecting the second disc-shaped portion to the second protrusion by discontinuous weld spots.

Method for manufacturing a disc brake disc

A caliper body of a brake caliper has supports for supporting thrust devices, brake pads or at least one attaching element, and feeding pipes for supplying the thrust devices, the supports and feeding pipes being made of a first material capable of withstanding high pressures, and at least one inner body portion made of a second material adapted to incorporate the supports and feeding pipes and obtain shapes having complex geometry for distributing stress received from the supports and feeding pipes. The at least one inner body portion forms a first vehicle side elongated element facing a first braking surface, and a second wheel side elongated element facing a second braking surface opposite to the first braking surface. The caliper body has at least one outer body portion made of a third material adapted to form a reinforcement with mechanical resistance.

Caliper body and brake caliper with said body

A disc assembly has a braking band, a bell and at least one driving element. The bell has at least one driving surface, forming a tangential abutment surface. The bell rests on at least one surface of the braking band or on a plurality of surfaces of the braking band coplanar with one another. The braking band has at least one driving band surface extending along axial and radial directions, forming at least one tangential abutment surface and slidingly rests on the at least one driving band surface. The driving element is selectively movable from a position in which it avoids resting on the bell to a position in which it rests on the bell and constrains the bell to the braking band in axial and circumferential directions, preventing the braking band from being constrained to the bell in radial direction.

Disc assembly of disc brake

A fixed brake caliper for a disc brake disc has a first half-body housing a first thrust device, and facing a first braking surface, a second half-body housing a second thrust device, and facing a second braking surface, and a first bridge element connecting and supporting the second half-body to the first half-body. The first bridge element has a first and a second guiding and resting bridge surfaces. The first half-body has a first protrusion protruding towards the opposite second half-body. The second half-body has a second protrusion protruding towards the opposite first half-body. The first and second half-bodies and the bridge element are mutually separable. The first and second protrusions each delimit a guiding and resting half-body surface, respectively. The first bridge element rests the first bridge surface against the first half-body surface and the second bridge surface against the second half-body surface.

Fixed caliper body for a disc brake disc

A braking device for a vehicle capable of resulting in an increased driving comfort is provided. The braking device may have a brake disc of a disc brake for rotating about a rotation axis, in which the disc may have a disc body. The disc body may have a braking band having opposite braking surfaces and at least one connection portion for connecting the disc to a connection device of a vehicle associable with the braking device. The braking band defines an axial direction parallel to the rotation axis of the brake disc, a radial direction orthogonal to the axial direction and a tangential or circumferential direction orthogonal both to the axial direction and to the radial direction. The connection portion is connected to the braking band by connecting elements, the connecting elements being a plurality of elements equally spaced apart in circumferential direction.

Braking device

A brake caliper and hub bracket assembly for a disc brake of a vehicle, comprising at least one caliper and at least one hub bracket, the brake caliper comprising a caliper body comprising a first elongated element, or vehicle side elongated element, suitable for directly or indirectly facing said first braking surface of the brake disc by at least a first brake pad, and a second elongated element, or wheel side elongated element, opposed to the vehicle side elongated element and suitable for directly or indirectly facing said second braking surface of the brake disc by at least a second brake pad. The vehicle side elongated element comprises at least a first thrust means seat suitable for receiving a piston for exerting a thrust action on the at least first brake pad. The wheel side elongated element comprises at least a second thrust means seat suitable for receiving a piston for exerting a thrust action on the at least second brake pad. The caliper body comprises at least one side caliper bridge suitable for straddling the brake disc, the caliper side bridge connecting the vehicle side elongated element and the wheel side elongated element. The hub bracket comprises a hub bracket body connected to at least one portion of the caliper body, the hub bracket body comprising at least one coupling surface suitable for coupling to at least one bearing for supporting a wheel hub connectable to the brake disc and to a wheel of the vehicle.

Disc brake caliper and hub bracket assembly

A pad assembly adapted to be mounted in a caliper body for a disc brake has a pad-housing pocket. The disc brake defines an axial direction, either coinciding or parallel with the direction of the rotation axis of the brake disc associable with the caliper body, a radial direction (R-R), orthogonal to the axial direction, and a tangential (T-T) or circumferential (T-T) direction, orthogonal both to the axial direction and to the radial direction (R-R). The pad-housing pocket has at least one pocket wall to form a tangential abutment for a brake pad associable with the caliper body. The pad assembly has a brake pad having a support plate, adapted to form a support for at least one associable friction material, where the support plate has a main extension along the radial (R-R) and tangential (T-T) directions. The support plate has a predefined bulk along the tangential direction (T-T), or tangential bulk, such that the support plate is adapted to be accommodated with a predetermined tangential play in the pad-housing pocket. The pad also has at least one elastic element.

Pad assembly for caliper body

A wheel assembly for a vehicle includes a wheel rim suitable to rotate around an axis of rotation (a-a), defining an axial direction (A-A) parallel or coincident with the axis of rotation (a-a), an orthogonal radial direction (R-R), and a circumferential direction locally coincident with a tangential direction (T-T) orthogonal to the axial direction (A-A) and the radial direction (R-R), the wheel rim having a radially outer side, opposite the axis of rotation (a-a), and a radially inner side facing the axis of rotation (a-a), the rim being suitable to receive externally a tire, and wherein the wheel rim forms internally a cylindrical chamber of the rim delimited radially from the inner side; a motor comprising a rotor and a stator; the rotor being supported, free to rotate, on the stator; said stator being fixed to a stator support; the motor being housed in the cylindrical wheel rim chamber of the wheel rim; the rotor is selectively, removably and rigidly connected to the inner side of the wheel rim, avoiding the interposition of elastic members or damping members.
