A voltage controlled oscillator includes a series resonant circuit having a resonance frequency and an active voltage driving device coupled to the series resonant circuit. The active voltage driving device provides a driving voltage and has an output negative resistance in an operative voltage range at the resonance frequency. The active voltage driving device includes a cross-coupled differential pair having voltage supply terminals providing the driving voltage. The series resonant circuit is coupled between the voltage supply terminals of the cross-coupled differential pair.

In an embodiment, a circuit for tripling frequency is configured to receive an input voltage (V) having a sinusoidal shape and a base frequency. The circuit has a first and a second transistor pair that are cross-coupled, and a trans-characteristics f(V) approximating a polynomial nominal trans-characteristic given by where A represents an amplitude of the input voltage and gis a transconductance of transistors of the first and second transistor pairs.

Electronic circuit for tripling frequency

A programmable-gain amplifier includes: two complementary cross-coupled transistor pairs mutually coupled with each transistor in one pair having a current flow path cascaded with a current flow path of a respective one of the transistors in the other pair. First and second coupling points are formed between the pairs; with first and second sampling capacitors coupled thereto. First and second input stages have input terminals to input signals for sampling by the first and second sampling capacitors. Switching means couple the first and second input stages to the sampling capacitors so the input signals are sampled as sampled signals on the sampling capacitors. The switching means energizes the complementary cross-coupled transistor pairs so the signals sampled on the sampling capacitors undergo negative resistance regeneration growing exponentially over time to thereby provide an exponential amplifier gain.

Programmable-gain amplifier, corresponding device and method

An oscillator has an oscillator output emitting an oscillating signal. The oscillator includes oscillator cores which each have a same circuit topology. A set of configuration switches couple a selected number of oscillator cores in parallel to generate the oscillating signal. The oscillator cores are arranged with a symmetry around a central axis. The planar inductors of the oscillator cores are arranged in a petal-like pattern with the planar inductors forming the petals of the petal-like pattern. The selected coupling of the oscillator cores in made in response to a selected phase noise threshold of a modulation device which receives the oscillating signal.
