Systems and methods for Wi-Fi network optimization include receiving inputs related to signal strength and interference during operation of the Wi-Fi network; performing an optimization to determine operational parameters of one or more access points in the Wi-Fi network, wherein the optimization is based on the inputs and is configured to address an objective associated with the Wi-Fi network; and providing outputs comprising the operational parameters for configuration of the Wi-Fi network, based on the optimization, wherein the operational parameters include channel and bandwidth selection, and topology of the one or more access points.

Systems and methods detect messages in transmitted and received data in communication systems in accordance with embodiments of the invention. A method of managing Wi-Fi access points using a Wi-Fi network manager is disclosed. Measurement data is received from a plurality of Wi-Fi access points via a control interface. Optimized adjustments to one or more Wi-Fi parameters associated with one or more of the plurality of access points are searched based at least in part on a set of network optimization goals and the measurement data received from the plurality of access points. At least some of the optimized adjustments to the one or more Wi-Fi parameters are transmitted to the one or more of the plurality of access points using the control interface.

A method of configuring a small cell base station in a cellular network via a cellular network manager includes, responsive to installation of the small cell base station, receiving measurement data from the small cell base station; determining one or more optimized values of one or more parameters for the small cell base station based on the measurement data and one or more constraints associated with at least a portion of the cellular network, wherein the one or more constraints are based on an impact of the small cell base station on one or more macrocells in the cellular network; and transmitting the one or more optimized values of one or more parameters to the small cell base station for configuration thereof.

Interference management and network performance optimization in small cells

Various embodiments provide for systems and methods of backhaul optimization. An exemplary system comprises a plurality of low power cells and a connector node. The connector node may be in communication with the plurality of low power cells. The connector node may be configured to receive demands from each of the plurality of low power cells. Each of the demands may indicate a demand at a predetermined time. The connector node may be further configured to determine a rate for each of the plurality of low power cells based on the demands of each of the low power cells and the assigned rate of the other of the plurality of low power cells. The connector node may be further configured to allocate capacity based on the determined rates.

Systems and methods of backhaul optimization

A method of configuring small cell base stations in a cellular network is disclosed. A constraint on a performance-related metric associated with at least a portion of the cellular network is received. In some embodiments, the constraint on the performance-related metric comprises a constraint on a performance-related metric associated with one or more macrocells. Measurement data from one or more small cell base stations is received via a control interface. One or more optimized values of one or more parameters associated with one or more small cell base stations are searched. The searching is based at least in part on the received measurement data and subject to the constraint on the performance-related metric associated with the at least a portion of the cellular network. The one or more optimized values of the one or more parameters to the associated small cell base stations are transmitted.

Interference management and network performance optimization in dense WiFi networks

A method of managing heterogeneous wireless devices in three or more different types of networks is disclosed. Each type of network uses a different type of radio access technology. The method includes receiving measurement data from a plurality of heterogeneous wireless devices via a control interface, wherein a heterogeneous wireless device provides connections to client devices via one or more of the three or more radio access technologies. The method includes searching, using a processor, for optimized adjustments to one or more parameters associated with one or more of the plurality of heterogeneous wireless devices based at least in part on a set of network optimization goals and the measurement data received from the plurality of heterogeneous wireless devices. The method includes transmitting at least some of the optimized adjustments of the one or more parameters to the one or more of the plurality of heterogeneous wireless devices.

Cloud-based management platform for heterogeneous wireless devices

In one respect, there is provided a method for analog-to-digital conversion. The method may include: receiving, at an analog-to-digital converter, an analog signal; determining, based on a total distortion caused by at least a sampler and an encoder, a sampling rate below the Nyquist rate and/or a quantization rate; and converting, by the analog-to-digital converter, the received analog signal to a digital signal by at least sampling at the determined sampling rate, when operation at the determined sampling rate does not worsen the total distortion. Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for energy efficient communication based on feedback. A method may include sending a first message carried by a first wireless radio channel at a first predetermined energy level; receiving, in response to the first message, a second message carried by a second wireless radio channel; comparing the first message to the second message; sending a termination message, when the comparing indicates the first message and the second message match; and sending a portion of the first message at a second predetermined energy level, when the comparing indicates the second message contains at least one error when compared to the first message.

Energy-efficient wireless communications via feedback

A method of handing off between a cellular network and a Wi-Fi network is disclosed. A cellular base station of the cellular network is caused to collect information related to the cellular network. A Wi-Fi access point of the Wi-Fi network is caused to collect information related to the Wi-Fi network, wherein the cellular base station and the Wi-Fi access point are co-located. The information related to the cellular network and the information related to the Wi-Fi network are used collectively for determining whether to handoff traffic of a user equipment from a cellular air interface of the cellular network to a Wi-Fi air interface of the Wi-Fi network, or vice versa.

Seamless handoff, offload, and load balancing in integrated Wi-Fi/small cell systems

A method of dynamically adjusting Wi-Fi parameters of a plurality of access points (APs) is disclosed. Reports from the plurality of APs are received through an interface. A conflict graph is created by a processor. Creating the conflict graph includes creating a plurality of vertices of the conflict graph, each vertex corresponding to one of the plurality of APs. Creating the conflict graph further includes determining that there is a conflict between at least some of the pairs of APs based at least in part on the received reports. Creating the conflict graph includes connecting an edge between each of the at least some of the pairs of APs. The conflict graph is stored in a memory.
