The present disclosure relates to methods for treating hair with lactones. The lactones form a covalent thio-ester bond with free thiols groups on chemically treated hair, and thereby impart a 'repairing' or 'conditioning' effect to the hair, for example, by making the hair more hydrophobic. Typically, after hair has been treated with a composition comprising one or more reducing agents that reduce disulfide bonds of hair to free thiols, a composition comprising one or more lactones is applied to the hair and the one or more lactones react with the free thiols to form a covalent thio-ester bond. Treatment with the lactones prevents reversion of the repaired bonds to their free thiol state after a single application.

Methods for treating hair

The present disclosure relates to hair care compositions for chemically treating hair, to kits comprising the compositions, and to methods for treating hair with the compositions. The compositions include one or more polymeric acid compounds and/or polymeric acid anhydride compounds in addition to one or more active agents for chemically treating the hair. Additionally, the compositions can optionally include one or more non-polymeric, mono-, di-, and/or tri-carboxylic acids and/or one or more mono- and/or di-amines and/or polyamines. Hair treated with the compositions exhibits improved softness, smoothness, and discipline.

Compositions and methods for improving the quality of chemically treated hair

The present disclosure relates to compositions and methods for improving the quality and durability of color in artificially colored hair. The compositions are hair coloring compositions that employ divalent metal salts of inorganic acids, monovalent or divalent metal salts of organic acids and colorants. Methods are described wherein hair is contacted with the compositions of the present disclosure, resulting in improved artificial color deposition, as well as improved quality and durability of the color in artificially colored hair.

The present disclosure relates to compositions and methods for improving the quality and durability of color in artificially colored hair. The methods employ pre-color treatments containing divalent metal salts of inorganic acids and monovalent or divalent metal salts of organic acids (treatments to the hair prior to artificial coloring of hair) and optionally, post-color treatments containing silane compounds (treatments to the hair after artificial coloring of hair).
