This disclosure relates to a low viscosity lubricating turbine oil having a composition comprising a lubricating oil base stock, as a major component, and one or more lubricating oil additives, as minor components. The lubricating turbine oil has a kinematic viscosity of about 16 cSt to about 22 cSt at 40&#xb0; C., a density of about 0.8 g/ml to about 0.9 g/ml, and an absolute evaporation loss at 150&#xb0; C. of less than about 4%. This disclosure also relates to a method for improving energy efficiency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure further relates to a method for improving energy efficiency while maintaining or improving deposit control and lubricating oil additive solvency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure yet further relates to a method for improving solubility, compatibility and dispersancy of polar additives in the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil.

Low viscosity lubricating oil compositions for turbomachines

A lubricant composition for improving electrical properties in lubricant systems to reduce the formation of sludge and varnish is disclosed. The lubricant composition comprises a base oil and an effective amount of antistatic additive to provide the composition with an electrical conductivity of at least about 50 pS/m at 25&#xb0; C. and a dielectric strength of at least 300 V/mil.

Lubricant composition with improved electrical properties

A lubricant formulation and method of blending a lubricant formulation is disclosed. The lubricant formulation comprises at least two base stocks. The first base stock comprises a viscosity greater than 135 cSt, Kv100&#xb0; C. and a tight molecular weight distribution as a function of viscosity. The second base stock comprises a viscosity less than 60 cSt, Kv100&#xb0; C. The formulation also comprises a polyol ester. The lubricant formulation provides favorable properties.
