Described herein are apparatuses (e.g., garments, including but not limited to shirts, pants, and the like) for detecting and monitoring physiological parameters, such as respiration, cardiac parameters, and the like. Also described herein are methods of forming garments having one or more stretchable conductive ink patterns and methods of making garments having one or more highly stretchable conductive ink pattern formed of a composite of an insulative adhesive, a conductive ink, and an intermediate gradient zone between the adhesive and conductive ink. The conductive ink typically includes between about 40-60% conductive particles, between about 30-50% binder; between about 3-7% solvent; and between about 3-7% thickener. The stretchable conductive ink patterns may be stretched more than twice their length without breaking or rupturing.

Physiological monitoring garments

A wearable device for continuous monitoring of the respiratory rate of a patient, using a first inertial sensor positioned on the abdomen, a second inertial sensor positioned on the thorax, and a third inertial sensor being positioned on a part of the body not subject to respiratory movements, fixed with respect to the torso. Each inertial sensor includes a microprocessor connected to a transmitter configured for processing the signals and supplying a signal represented by a quaternion that describes the orientation of the inertial sensors with respect to the Earth's reference system. A receiver is configured for receiving the abdominal quaternion of the first inertial sensor, the thoracic quaternion of the second inertial sensor, and the reference quaternion of the third inertial sensor and sending them to a control center configured for calculating the respiratory rate from the signals represented by a filtered abdominal quaternion and a filtered thoracic quaternion.

Wearable device for the continuous monitoring of the respiratory rate

Elastic electrical connectors that may be incorporated into a garment to connect multiple electrical components in the garment. These electrical connectors are typically long strips of fabric substrate to which wires are attached along a length of one side in a sinusoidal or zig-zag pattern. The connector may also include an adhesive coating on one side to secure it to a fabric. The wires are electrically insulated, which may be a thermoremovable insulation (e.g., a polyurethane having a melting point of &#x3c;400&#xb0; C.). The wires may be attached to the surface of the fabric strip by a stitch at each peak and trough of the sinusoidal or zig-zag pattern with a length between peak and trough stitches between about 1 mm and 15 mm.

Flexible fabric ribbon connectors for garments with sensors and electronics

Systems and methods for automatically determining of garment sizing (e.g., fit) using a images including video images. The method may perform non-contact estimations of garment fit from visual (e.g., video) input by receiving an video of the subject's head and face and profile and determining a scaling factor from the subject's intraocular spacing and using this scaling factor when analyzing images of other body regions to determine garment sizing.
