This invention relates to compositions comprising a polyamide, polyester or polyketone, a specific organic phosphite (Irgafos.RTM.12, Ciba-Geigy) and a sterically hindered phenol such as Irganox.RTM.1098, Irganox.RTM.1076, Irganox.RTM.1010, Irganox.RTM.245, Irganox.RTM.259, Irganox.RTM.1035, Irganox.RTM.3114 or Irganox.RTM.3125 (Ciba-Geigy), to the use thereof for stabilising polyamide, polyester or polyketone against oxidative, thermal and/or light-induced degradation, as well as to a process for stabilising these plastic materials.

Stabilization of polyamide, polyester and polyketone

o-Hydroxyphenyl-s-triazines are described which contain at least two alkoxyphenyl substituents. They have the formula (1). The compounds according to the invention are suitable as stabilizers for textile fiber materials, in particular polyester fiber materials, and for organic polymers. Furthermore, they are suitable for use as sunscreens in cosmetic preparations.

According to the invention, polyaddition products containing imide groups are manufactured by reacting certain polyimides (preferably maleimides) with polycarboxylic acids in the presence of basic compounds. The preferred embodiment (C) relates to the use of catalysts as basic compounds. In particular, tertiary amines, secondary amines or mixed tertiary-secondary amines can be used. A further embodiment (D) relates to the use of primary polyamines as basic compounds. In the latter case, the polyamine participates in the polyaddition mechanism, that is to say the molecules are incorporated into the polyaddition products. In this latter case, catalysts can also be used additionally. The invention can be utilized particularly in the fields of surface protection, the electrical industry, laminating processes, and the manufacture of foamed plastics, and in the building industry.

Process for the manufacture of polyaddition products containing imide

According to the invention, polyaddition products containing imide groups are manufactured by reacting certain polyimides (preferably maleimides) with polyhydric phenols in the presence of basic compounds. The preferred embodiment (A) relates to the use of catalysts as basic compounds. In particular, tertiary, secondary or mixed tertiary-secondary amines can be used. A further embodiment (B) relates to the use of primary polyamines as basic compounds. In the latter case, the polyamine participates in the polyaddition mechanism, that is to say the molecules are incorporated into the polyaddition products. In this latter case, catalysts can also be used additionally. The invention can be utilized particularly in the fields of surface protection, the electrical industry, laminating processes and the manufacture of foamed plastics, and in the building industry.

The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of foams by warming the mixture to be foamed in the presence of an organic sulphohydrazide, an organic compound which contains amide groups and a salt of a metal of group IIa or IIb of the Periodic Table. Integral or non-integral foams having a uniform and fine pore structure are obtained.

Process for the manufacture of foams from epoxide resins

A mixture which can be converted to a heat-resistant foamed plastic and which contains a polyimide of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, an azomethine, a solid blowing agent, and optionally a polyamine. On warming, the mixture gives a foamed plastic of high heat resistance and good resistance to chemicals.
