It is suggested to process radar signals including: (i) receiving reception signals via at least one antenna of a first receiving circuit; (ii) determining an interim result by processing the reception signals via a frequency transformation; (iii) determining an error compensation vector based on the interim result and an expected characteristic; and (iv) applying the error compensation vector on other reception signals that have been processed via the frequency transformation.

Processing radar signals

It is suggested to process radar signals including (i) determining a variation of at least one radar parameter provided from at least one radar device; (ii) determining an estimated value of at least one radar parameter from an error compensation vector; and (iii) determining a safety condition based on the variation and the estimated value for the respective radar parameter.

In some methods, sampled values based on a reception signal are stored in rows and columns of a memory array. A first 1-dimensional (1D) detector is moved in a first direction over the memory array. The first 1D detector includes a first cell under test and first and second training cells on opposite sides of the first cell under test. The first cell under test and the first and second training cells of the first 1D detector being aligned in the first direction. A second 1D detector is moved over the memory array. The second 1D detector includes a second cell under test and third and fourth training cells on opposite sides of the second cell under test. The second cell under test and the third and fourth training cells of the second 1D detector are aligned in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction.

Context based target detection

A method for a radar system having a plurality of antennas is provided. The method includes processing a plurality of radar signals for determining a distance between the radar system and at least one target and a velocity of the at least one target, thereby forming a plurality of processed radar signals. Each radar signal of the plurality of radar signals is received by an associated antenna of the plurality of antennas. The plurality of processed radar signals are digitally beamformed for at least one beam direction, thereby forming a plurality of beamformed radar signals. The plurality of beamformed radar signals are summed from the plurality of antennas per beam direction.

Radar system and method of handling radar signals of a radar system

The present disclosure relates to a concept for detecting radar targets. A plurality of first receive signals is received from first antennas of an antenna array. A first combined range-Doppler map is determined by combining range-Doppler maps of each of the first antennas. First confirmable range-Doppler cells of the first combined range-Doppler map are determined which match a predetermined confirmation criterion. A plurality of second receive signals is received from second antennas of the antenna array. A second combined range-Doppler map is determined by combining range-Doppler maps of each of the second antennas. Second confirmable range-Doppler cells of the second combined range-Doppler map are determined which match the predetermined confirmation criterion. The first and second confirmable range-Doppler cells are combined to obtain a set of confirmable range-Doppler cells. Values of the first and the second combined range-Doppler maps corresponding to the set of confirmable range-Doppler cells are summed to obtain summed values of the combined confirmable range-Doppler cells. Summed values of the total confirmable range-Doppler cells exceeding a predefined selection threshold are selected for target detection.

Radar device and method for detecting radar targets

A method of handling radar signals of a radar system having a plurality of antennas is provided. The method may include generating a plurality of time-based radar signals based on a radar signal received by an associated antenna of the plurality of antennas, and transforming each time-based radar signal of the time-based radar signals into radar signals that each comprise a plurality of pairs of a frequency-based-value and an associated intensity value. The method includes storing the frequency-based-values and the intensity values of one frequency-based radar signal corresponding to one time-based radar signal of one antenna of the plurality of antennas; and storing each intensity value of the plurality of intensity values of another of the plurality of frequency-based radar signals based on a corresponding intensity value of the one frequency-based radar signal, wherein a stored representation of the intensity value of the other of the plurality of frequency-based radar signals has fewer bits than the corresponding stored intensity value.

Method of compressing radar data using frequency bins

According to one embodiment, a radar receiving system is provided comprising a first receiving circuit, a second receiving circuit, a spectral analyzer, an object detector, and a phase compensation circuit. The spectral analyzer is configured to generate, from a first plurality of reception signals, a first set of Fourier transformation output values and, from a second plurality of reception signals, a second set of Fourier transformation output values. The object detector is configured to determine a range/Doppler bin of a plurality of range/Doppler bins as an estimate of a range and speed of an object. The phase compensation circuit is configured to determine a phase offset between the Fourier transformation output values of the first set and second set of Fourier transformation output values and to compensate the phases of at least a part of the second set of Fourier transformation output values by the determined phase offset.

Radar receiving system and method for compensating a phase error between radar receiving circuits

A radar device is provided comprising a first processing unit, a radar circuitry, at least one security circuitry, at least one secure memory, and a secure interface arranged for communicating with a second processing unit that is external to the radar device, wherein the first processing unit is arranged to configure and/or run the radar device based on parameters obtained via the secure interface from the second processing unit.

An automotive radar arrangement includes a radar receiver configured to generate radar reception data from radio signals received by a plurality of radar receive antennas. A radar signal processor is configured to determine an estimate of an angular position of at least one object by processing the radar reception data. A communication interface is configured to receive information about a reference angular position of the at least one object. A determiner is configured to determine a compensation for the radar reception data based on the estimate of the angular position and the reference angular position of the at least one object. The radar signal processor is configured to correct the radar reception data and/or further radar reception data for the detection of a further object based on the compensation. An output interface is configured to provide information about the presence of the further object to a vehicle controller.

Automotive radar arrangement and method for object detection by vehicle radar

A Signal Processing Unit (SPU) having a thresholding circuit configured to detect a peak cell of a radar data cube, and to output an identification of the peak cell and energy values of the peak cell and its adjacent cells; and an interpolation circuit coupled to the thresholding circuit, and configured to determine and transmit from the SPU to a Digital Signal Processor (DSP), a relative position of the peak cell between the adjacent cells based on the energy values.

Systems, methods, and circuitries are disclosed for compressing radar data. In one example, a method includes storing radar data in a memory, the radar data being stored in a data cube having a slow-time dimension, a fast-time dimension, and a channel dimension. The data cube is divided into one or more zones. For each zone a number of data matrices is selected based on a compression factor. Sets of data matrices containing the number of data matrices are formed and, for each set of data matrices, for each data matrix, the data vectors are coded to generate a coded data matrix. A coding for data vectors in a data matrix is the same and a coding for different data matrices is different. The coded data matrices are combined to generate a compressed data matrix for the zone and the compressed data matrices for the one or more zones are stored.

Compressive multiplexing for radar data

A radar device is provided that is arranged for conducting an interference detection and mitigation based on received and sampled radar signals and storing interference-mitigated data; conducting an FFT on the interference-mitigated data and storing FF-transformed data; conducting a compression on the FF-transformed data into compressed data; and storing the compressed data in a memory. Also, a method for operating such radar device is suggested.

A method for the use in a radar system comprises: receiving an RF radar signal; down-converting the received RF radar signal into a base band using a frequency-modulated local oscillator signal including a scanning chirp having a higher bandwidth than a regular chirp bandwidth; generating a digital base band signal based on the down-converted RF radar signal, the digital base band signal including a sequence of samples associated with the scanning chirp; identifying, in the sequence of samples, impaired samples, which are affected by interference; and selecting&#x2014;based on the position of the impaired samples within the sequence of samples&#x2014;a sub-band, which has the regular chirp bandwidth, for transmitting chirps of chirp frame used for measurement data acquisition.
