In one embodiment, a liquid or flowable cleansing or skin treatment composition is described which is substantially nonaqueous and which has a continuous and a discontinuous phase. Components of the discontinuous phase can chemically react with each other or with water when water is blended with the nonaqueous cleansing or skin treatment composition during consumer use. In a second embodiment, a solidified cleansing or skin treatment composition is described which contains components that can chemically react with each other or with water when water is blended with the solidified cleansing composition during consumer use. Methods for treating the skin with the inventive compositions are also described.

An article especially suitable for cleansing skin having the general form of a fibrous cleansing bar is described which includes a hydrous lathering composition that at least partially incorporates a fabricated polymer network that is exposed either before or during use. The fibrous cleansing bar exhibits an enhanced release of hydrophobic organic benefit agents used to deliver sensory, skin care or other functional benefits.

A colored article suitable for cleansing skin having the general form of a fibrous bar is described. The article includes a solid or semi-solid lathering composition that at least partially incorporates a continuous fabricated polymeric network. The articles have a substantially red color defined by L*,a*,b* chromaticity values falling within a specific region of the CIE color space and exhibit a low tendency for discoloration in storage and use.

A darkly colored article especially suitable for cleansing skin having the general form of a fibrous bar is described. The article includes a solid or semi-solid lathering composition that at least partially incorporates a continuous fabricated polymeric network. By including a network that has a CIE Lightness Value of less than about 50, especially an achromatic network, darkly colored cleansing articles can be provided that have minimum staining potential and exhibit good color stability during storage and use.

A skin exfoliating tool and kit is provided wherein the tool includes an applicator wand and a drying tray. The wand features a gripping handle, a platform projecting circumferentially outward from the handle and a pliable pad attached to the platform. The wand nests in the drying tray, the latter being formed with a cavity for receiving the pad, the cavity being defined by a floor and an open mouth. The tray has at least one drainage orifice adjacent the floor. The kit incorporates the exfoliating tool in combination with a skin exfoliating composition that is formulated with abrasive particles in a carrier vehicle.

The present invention includes a layered liquid detergent composition in a water-soluble single use package, the composition comprising at least two layers, the at least two layers comprising a surfactant, a colored inorganic electrolyte, and water. In the inventive compositions at least one of the layers (the electrolyte layer) is colored. Preferred compositions include a dye in the surfactant layer, so that the compositions contain at least two layers, with two distinct colors. Preferred compositions are transparent and are enclosed within a transparent body.
