The invention relates to the production of (meth)acrylic esters according to a process by direct esterification, and in particular to the purification of a crude reaction mixture comprising a C-C(meth)acrylic ester using a dividing wall column employed in a particular configuration. The dividing wall column is equipped with a separating wall creating separation zones in the column, the wall not being joined to the upper dome of the column in the top part and being joined to the bottom of the column in the bottom part. The process according to the invention guarantees a product of very high purity, independently of the back-cracking reactions of the heavy by-products liable to arise during the purification of the product sought.

Method for purifying (meth)acrylic esters using a divided wall column

A process for the synthesis of acrylic acid oligomer represented by formula (I):  wherein the process comprises the step of heating acrylic acid at a temperature from 50&#xb0; C. to 200&#xb0; C. in the presence of a catalyst, water and at least one polymerization inhibitor. Formula (I) where n=0 is acrylic acid, the precursor for preparing the acrylic acid oligomer.

The invention relates to the production of alkyl acrylate according to a continuous transesterification process. In one embodiment the process of the invention uses a simple column to purify a reaction mixture of acryl acrylate in one step yielding alkyl acrylate with a purity of greater than 99.8%.

The invention relates to a process for continuously producing 2-octyl acrylate by reacting acrylic acid and 2-octanol in the presence of a sulfonic acid esterification catalyst and at least one polymerization inhibitor. The water formed by the esterification reaction is entrained by distillation in a column surmounting the reactor in the form of a heteroazeotropic mixture with the 2-octanol which is then subjected, after condensation, to separation in a decanter so as to give an upper organic phase and a lower aqueous phase. The reaction mixture containing the reaction product and residual by-products are purified by separation means in order to obtain: (1) pure 2-octyl acrylate and (2) unreacted 2-octanol and acrylic acid compounds that will be recycled along with the catalyst.

Method for producing 2-octyl acrylate by direct esterification

The invention relates to a process for recovery of noble products from heavy (meth)acrylic fractions generated during production of (meth)acrylic esters by transesterification, the heavy fractions comprising at least noble products and Michael adducts, the process comprising the steps of: (i) adding at least one antifouling agent and optionally a viscosity-reducing compound to the heavy fractions; (ii) submitting the mixture to temperature and distillation conditions sufficient to crack the Michael adducts into their components; and (iii) recovering the noble products in the form of a stream of distillate, and of a final residue that is sufficiently fluid to be transported by pump.
