A pulley-less shed-forming device for a weaving machine, such as a jacquard machine, has a number of shed-forming elements ( ), such as hooks, to determine the positions of one or more warp yarns on a weaving machine. A lifting device ( ), ( ) moves the shed-forming elements ( ) up and down. At least one actuator ( )-( ), ( ), ( ) is provided for selectively influencing the shed-forming element ( ), so that it is either kept at a fixed height, or is moved by means of the lifting device ( ), ( ). A method for manufacturing a loop pile fabric with a varied appearance includes a woven backing fabric. A shed-forming device for individually controlling heddles for the warp threads of a weaving device has hook elements which are connected to the heddles for the warp threads. Upward and downward moving knives are provided for the hook elements can hook onto. The hook elements have spring elements on a supporting element or carriage. Actuators are provided which influence the spring elements to allow the hook elements to selectively hook or not hook onto the upward and downward moving knives. Each hook element is provided with at least three spring elements in the form of spring legs. At least two spring elements are made as at least double laminated springs. At least two of the spring legs are provided with hooks destined to work together with moving knives. One or more actuators are provided which can selectively influence the various spring elements. Retaining hooks are provided for at least a part of the spring elements in a position influenced by an actuator.

A shed-forming device for individually controlling heddles for warp threads of a weaving device has hook elements connected to the heddles for the warp threads. Upward and downward moving knives are provided to which the hook elements can hook onto. The hook elements are provided with spring elements and actuators connected to the spring elements allow the hook elements to selectively hook or not hook onto the upward and downward moving knives. Each hook element also has at least three spring elements in the form of spring legs. At least two spring elements are made as double laminated springs. At least two of the spring legs are provided with hooks for working together with the moving knives. One or more actuators are provided which selectively influence the various spring elements. Retaining hooks are provided for at least a part of the spring elements in a position determined by an actuator.

Shed forming device for a textile machine having at least one shed forming mechanism operating with an upward and a downward movement. A movable shed forming element and a pulley element are connected to the shed forming mechanism. A selection device holds the shed forming element at a fixed height. A lifting device moves the shed forming element up and down when it is not held at the fixed height. The selection device is included in a selection module formed as a separate unit which is detachably attached to a pulley module. The pulley module includes the pulley element and the shed forming element and is also detachably attached to a part of the shed forming device.

Shed forming device for a textile machine having at least one upwardly and downwardly moving shed forming mechanism. An actuator is connected to a movable holding element for moving the element to a holding position and a non-holding position. In the holding position the element holds the shed forming device at a fixed height. A stop is connected to the element for supporting the holding element when it is in the holding position. Because of this the holding element is held on the stop by the shed forming mechanism. Thus, the contact pressure between the shed forming means and the holding element is produced by the hook load itself allowing for a support for the holding element to remain unstressed.

For positioning pile yarns in variable selection positions in a carpet weaving machine of the gripper Axminster type, in which pile yarns (1-8) of different colors are placed next to each other in a line in pile yarn loaders (10), each pile yarn loader (10) is brought directly from a selection position to a following selection position. The selection movement thereby remains limited to moving over the distance between two successive selection positions.

A shed forming device for selecting a shed forming apparatus with the assistance of piezoelectric bending elements in a weaving and/or knitting machine of the jacquard type intended for weaving and knitting patterns. The shed forming device includes complementary ascending and descending hooks and complementary ascending and descending blades adapted to cooperate and mutually hook and unhook. Each of the piezoelectric bending elements has a U-shaped clip at a free extremity thereof having one arm (17) that is adapted to slide over a corresponding one of the hooks. Each of the complementary hooks is attached to an elastic bending spring part which can slide up and down along a groove under the action of one of the ascending blades in order to raise a tackle and also a harness cord.

A three-position open-shed jacquard machine has a system with two interacting hooks (1), (2) for lifting a warp thread on a weaving loom. First and second knives (10), (11) are movable up and down in counterphase and in their bottom dead-center position can carry along a respective hook (1), (2) from a selection height (S). A first control element (20) selects each hook (1), (2) so that it can be carried along by the first and second knives (10), (11). Third and fourth knives (12), (13) are movable up and down in counterphase and in their top dead center position carry along a respective hook (1), (2), from the selection height (S). A second control element (21) selects each hook (1), (2) so that it is retained at the selection height (S). A hook (1), (2) which has not been selected by either of the two control elements (20), (21) is carried along by the third and fourth second knives (12), (13). The first and second knives (10), and third and fourth knives (11), (12), (13) interacting with the same hook (1), (2) move in counterphase. The control elements (20), (21) are positioned one below the other, and only one lifter element (6) is required. The hooks (1), (2) can be carried along smoothly from a stationary position by the respective knives (10), (11); (12), (13).

A shedding selection device for Jacquard-type weaving- and knitting machines can simply make use of bimorf or piezo-electric bending elements (9), under the condition that the complementary hooks (2,12) are resilient hooks which are resiliently mounted on one of the ascending- and descending parts of the shedding devices. Additionally the selection of shedding devices can be realized with only one such bending element (9) per harness cord (25).

A method for manufacturing a face-to-face pile fabric wherein first weft thread is provided in the top fabric and the bottom fabric adjacent to second and third weft threads located one above another. Three weft threads are inserted simultaneously. Each warp thread system, has binder warp threads, tension warp threads and pile-forming pile warp threads interlacing with a three-pick weave. In each case pile is formed on the first weft thread provided on the back of the second and the third weft thread. Binding of the dead pile warp thread is distributed over both the fabrics. Pile is formed on the third weft thread located on a back side. A pile thread that starts forming a pile or finishes forming a pile is first interlaced with a third weft thread before is starts forking the pile or before it is bound-in. Binder warp threads are provided to bind the first weft threads in a separate opening. Pile is formed on the first weft thread which is not provided on the back of the fabrics. Each warp thread system has two tension warp threads.
