A bone fracture fixation system including reference pins inserted into bone fragments of a patient in a first configuration and an image capture device configured to capture an image of the reference pins, and the bone fragments. The system includes a processor configured to receive and pre-process the captured image data. The processor pre-processes the image data by virtually re-positioning the reference pins in the first configuration into a second configuration, wherein the re-positioning virtually re-positions the bone fragments into normal alignment; and virtually generating a support device. The system includes a point-of-care production apparatus that produces a three-dimensional model of the virtually generated support device in a form that can be applied to the patient. The three-dimensional support device generated by the point-of-care production apparatus is configured to receive the reference pins in the first configuration; and simultaneously re-positions and fixes the bone fragments into normal alignment.

Outcome-based splinting

A bone implant kit includes an implant and first and second electrical stimulation anchors. The implant defines an inner surface inner configured to face a bone to which the bone implant kit is configured to attach, and an outer surface opposite the inner surface. The implant further defines first and second bone fixation holes that each extend from the inner surface to the outer surface. The first and second bone fixation holes are spaced from each other along a longitudinal direction. The first electrical stimulation anchor can be sized and configured for insertion into the first bone fixation hole, and the second electrical stimulation anchor can be sized and configured for insertion into the second bone fixation hole. The first and second electrical stimulation anchors can be configured to respond to a magnetic field so as to generate an electric field between the first and second electrical stimulated anchors.

A C-arm, or a mobile intensifier device, is one example of a medical imaging device that is based on X-ray technology. Because a C-arm device can display high-resolution X-ray images in real time, a physician can monitor progress at any time during an operation, and thus can take appropriate actions based on the displayed images. Monitoring the images, however, is often challenging during certain procedures, for instance during procedures in which attention must be paid to the patient's anatomy as well as a medical imaging device display. In an example, a surgical instrument assembly includes a processor, a surgical instrument configured to operate on an anatomical structure, and a display coupled to the processor and attached to the surgical instrument. The display can be configured to display visual information comprising X-ray images generated by a medical imaging device, and depth gauge information generated by a depth gauge coupled to the surgical instrument.

A cable-lock device includes a housing, having a length-axis between a distal end for accepting a cable and a proximal end for exiting a cable, including a first bore parallel to the length-axis of the housing and configured to allow passage of the cable, a second bore off-center from and parallel to the first bore including a tappet axially displaceable in the second bore and parallel to the length axis of the housing, and a third bore oblique to the first bore which intersects with the first bore including a locking roller axially displaceable in the third bore with a predetermined angulation to the length-axis of the housing, a resilient structure which exerts a force on the locking roller in the direction of the intersection of the first bore and the third bore, and a fastener unit at the proximal end of the third bore.

Cable-lock for orthopedic cables

A distal targeting device for a surgical instrument includes a field generator having a coupling element configured to receive a shaft that is elongate along an axis and a bridge connectable to the field generator so as to be spaced from the field generator in a proximal direction with respect to the axis. The bridge includes an attachment device that is connectable to a tool that is configured to manipulate the shaft. The bridge also includes a pair of arms configured to clasp a body of the tool in a manner substantially rigidly coupling the bridge to the tool. At least one of the arms is positionable with respect to the attachment member at a distance that is adjustable so as to enable the arms to substantially rigidly clasp tool bodies having one or more of various shapes and sizes.

Guide attachment for power tools

An anatomical implant application, such as a bone implant application for instance, can receive an anatomical image that is representative of an anatomical structure. The anatomical implant application can generate an implant image that is associated with the anatomical structure. The generated implant image can define an inner surface that faces the anatomical image. A plurality of distances can be determined from respective locations of the inner surface of the implant image to the anatomical image in respective straight lines. The distances may represent a superimposition of the implant image over the anatomical image. The distances may be compared to a tolerance. The inner surface may be repositioned so as to change at least the select one of the distances. An implant, such as a bone implant for instance, may be fabricated in accordance with data that is associated with the implant image.

Method for designing and manufacturing a bone implant

An implant for use in orthognathic surgery of a mandible may include a longitudinal plate member and a plurality of pre-configured guides coupled to the plate member. The longitudinal plate member is pre-bent to correspond to the post-operative shape of the mandible; and the guides are pre-configured to align the plate member with the mandible when the implant is positioned against the mandible after the mandible has been separated.

An implant for use in orthognathic surgery of a maxilla may include a longitudinal plate member and a plurality of pre-shaped fingers extending from an upper edge of the plate member. The longitudinal plate member is pre-shaped to correspond to the pre-operative shape of the maxilla; and the fingers are pre-shaped to correspond to the shape of the maxilla. The fingers may be pre-shaped to correspond to either the pre-operative shape or the post-operative shape of the maxilla.

The present invention generally relates to mandibular prostheses. More particularly, the invention relates to a condylar-head replacement for reconstruction of the temporomandibular joint after resection of the condyloid process. The present invention provides a condylar-head replacement comprising a condylar-head attachment that may be adjustably positioned on a reconstruction plate to achieve various condylar-head heights. The condylar-head height adjustment allows the condylar-head replacement to be fit to a particular patient. The condylar-head replacement of the present invention obviates the need for custom fabrication of a condylar-head replacement for a patient.
