The invention provides a control unit for at least one electric motor, wherein the control unit performs open-loop or closed-loop control of the motor speed of the electric motor in such a way that in the case of control values in specific ranges which are typical of a fault when the setpoint value is being predefined, such a fault being, for example, a line break, a voltage failure or a short circuit, the control unit drives the motor with a predefined setpoint value which differs from the current control value.

Control unit for an electric motor, in particular for a fan motor

The invention relates to a brushless DC motor having an at least two-pole permanent magnet rotor and an at least two-pole stator whose poles carry an at least single-strand stator winding which can be energized with a current according to the rotor position by means of an electronic commutation device, there being a substantially uniform cylindrical air gap between the rotor and the stator. The rotor is characterized in that at least one stator pole, or a specially provided auxiliary pole having an auxiliary winding, is provided which is energized with a current to start up the motor. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the auxiliary winding can additionally be used as a sensor winding to determine the position of the rotor.

Brushless motor

The invention relates to a method to control an electronically commutated motor in which the motor current is influenced as a function of an operating parameter of the motor. According to the invention, the motor current is adaptively switched as a function of the operating parameter of the motor. This means that the waveform over time of the motor current envelope is changed as a function of the operating parameter in such a way that for a value of the operating parameter below a fixed threshold value, a motor current for minimum noise generation is applied and for a value of the operating parameter above the fixed threshold value, a motor current for maximum efficiency of the motor is applied.

Method to control an electronically commutated motor and motor controller

The invention relates to a method for the commutation of a brushless direct current motor in which the position of the rotor in respect of the stator is determined directly or indirectly and an external operating voltage is applied, at a preset commutation angle, to the at least one motor winding depending on the determined rotor position. In accordance with the invention, the motor is preferably switched periodically back and forth between a second optimized commutation angle and the first, original, preset commutation angle. If a change in rotational speed results from switching between the commutation angles, the new operating point deviates from the old operating point. To compensate for this difference in speed, not only is the pre-commutation angle changed but the motor voltage is also changed.

Method for the commutation of a brushless direct current motor

The invention relates to a method for controlling a brushless electric motor for operation within a specified supply voltage range, a motor control controlling the winding voltage by means of pulse width modulation (PWM) and regulating the rotational speed to a specified speed. According to the invention, the motor is so rated that the nominal rotational speed is just achieved at the nominal operating point at the nominal supply voltage and at the maximum PWM ratio.

Method for controlling a brushless electric motor

A method for the commutation of a brushless direct current motor having at least one motor winding in which the position of the rotor with respect to the stator is determined, a commutation signal is generated from the position, and the motor winding is energized by a preset commutation angle as a function of the commutation signal. Depending on the construction and energization of the motor, either (i) the polarity of the winding current is registered when a commutation signal appears and the commutation angle is changed as a function of the recorded polarity of the winding current in such a way that the winding current is essentially zero or has a zero point when a commutation signal appears, or (ii) the absolute value of the winding currents is measured and the commutation angle is changed as a function of the absolute value of the winding currents in such a way that the total excitation of the momentary phase calculated from the winding currents is essentially zero when a commutation signal appears.
