Systems and methods are disclosed herein for Control Resource Set (CORESET) enhancements for initial access. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device comprises receiving and decoding a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) transmission in a CORESET in accordance with at least a portion of a Control Channel Element (CCE) to Resource Element Group (REG) mapping. The PDCCH transmission comprises one or more CCEs. The CCE to REG mapping comprises an interleaved portion that maps the one or more CCEs to a first set of REGs that are spread across a bandwidth of the CORESET, and a second portion that maps at least a portion of an additional CCE to at least a REG in a frequency gap between two REGs in the first set of REGs, the additional CCE corresponding to one of the CCEs mapped to the first set of REGs.

Coreset enhancement for reduced bandwidth UEs initial access

A method of a network node arranged for wireless communication with wireless communication devices is for transmission of a signal to the wireless communication devices. The method includes receiving, from another network node, a paging message intended for a wireless device belonging to a first group of wireless devices, determining, from the received paging message, a signal resource allocation and the group of the wireless device, determining a signal sequence based on the signal resource allocation and the group of the wireless device, and transmitting the signal comprising the determined signal sequence using the determined signal resource allocation. Methods for network nodes and wireless communication devices are disclosed, as well as network nodes and wireless devices, and computer programs therefor.

A method and network node for flexible indication of resources in LTE-M using bitmaps are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes indicating to the wireless device a set of reserved resources for machine communications in compatibility with a broadband radio access technology sharing resources in a time frame and frequency band that encompasses the set of reserved resources, the indicating using a two level bitmap operating in the time-domain, a first bitmap level of the two level bitmap indicating a first set of subframes containing reserved resources, and a second bitmap level of the two level bitmap indicating reserved symbols within an indicated subframe.

Configuring each of two signals having a frequency bandwidth which is less than a system frequency bandwidth available to the network node for wireless transmissions. The method includes allocating a first signal of the two signals on a first time and frequency resource based on a configuration in which the first signal is included, allocating a second signal of the two signals on a second time and frequency resource based on the configuration, wherein frequency use of the second time and frequency resource is at least partly different from frequency use of the first time and frequency resource, and providing signalling for a wireless communication device enabling the wireless communication device to derive the first and second time and frequency resources. Signal allocation in a carrier

Embodiments relate to e.g. a method performed by radio network node () for paging a UE () in a wireless communication network. The UE () transmits a paging signal on a carrier to the UE (), wherein the carrier is associated with a second paging signal for a second type of UEs. A first number of carriers are configured for a first paging signal of a first type of UEs and a second number of carriers are configured for the second paging signal of the second type of UEs, wherein the first paging signal comprises a first wake-up signal, WUS, and wherein the second paging signal comprises a group wake up signal, WUS, for a group of UEs of the second type of UEs.

Radio network node, user equipment (UE) and methods performed in a wireless communication network

Systems and methods for decoding a transmission are provided. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device comprises determining a plurality of Machine-Type Communications (MTC) Physical Downlink Control Channel (MPDCCH) transmission candidates to monitor. For at least one candidate of the plurality of MPDCCH transmission candidates, the method includes determining whether the candidate belongs to a first group of candidates or a second group of candidates. If the candidate belongs to the first group of candidates, the method includes attempting to decode the MPDCCH transmission using a Channel State Information (CSI)-based precoding scheme. If the candidate belongs to the second group of candidates, the method includes attempting to decode the MPDCCH transmission using a predetermined precoding scheme. This may allow a more robust precoding technique and can be considered as technique with a fallback solution for the cases in which the CSI is either missed or not reliable.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for configuration of resynchronization signal (RSS) in a radio network. In one embodiment, a wireless device (WD) is configured to determine a deployment alternative for a resynchronization signal (RSS) in the radio network, the determining of the deployment alternative including determining whether a time-frequency resource used for an the RSS in a second cell in the radio network is a same time-frequency resource as a time-frequency resource used for the RSS in the first cell. The WD is also configured to determine information about the RSS time-frequency resource used in the second cell in the radio network based at least in part on the determined deployment alternative, and to detect the RSS in the second cell using the determined information about the RSS time-frequency resource used for the RSS in the second cell.

A network node is arranged to operate in a cell of a cellular communication system. The network node comprises an interface towards the cellular communication system where the interface is arranged to receive paging information for an idle user equipment, UE, a paging handler arranged to determine a mode of power saving for the UE, and to determine timing for a wake-up signal based on the determined mode and the received paging information, and a transmitter arranged to transmit the wake-up signal at the determined timing. A method of the network node comprises receiving paging information for an idle user equipment, UE, from the cellular communication system, determining a mode of power saving for the UE, determining timing for a wake-up signal based on the determined mode and the received paging information, and transmitting the wake-up signal at the determined timing.

Systems and methods for configuring wake-up signals are provided. A network node allocates a first wake-up signal (WUS) at a first frequency location and one or more second WUSs at second frequency location(s). Responsive to receiving a page associated with a wireless device, the network node transmits the appropriate first or second WUS on the configured frequency.

Wake-up signal configuration

Systems and methods are disclosed for triggering a long range extension mode of operation for a wireless device in a cellular communications network. In one preferred embodiment, the wireless device is a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device. In one embodiment, a node in the cellular communications network determines that the wireless device is to operate in the long range extension mode if there is difficulty in establishing communication between the wireless device and the cellular communications network. If the wireless device is to operate in the long range extension mode, the node activates one or more long range extension mechanisms with respect to the wireless device such that the wireless device operates in the long range extension mode. In this manner, the long range extension mode is selectively triggered for the wireless device.

Method and apparatus for triggering of specific operation mode for terminals operating in extended long range

A method, wireless device, and network node configured to enable a wireless device to serve as a base station to at least one other wireless device in a communications network, the wireless device being configured to perform predetermined base station functions. The method includes determining a condition triggering a need to provide the predetermined base station functions to the at least one other wireless device, notifying a network node in the communications network that the wireless device is available to provide the predetermined base station functions, receiving approval from the network node to provide the predetermined base station functions, and providing the predetermined base station functions to the at least one other wireless device.

Cellular service improvement and extension by user equipment

Systems and methods are disclosed for adjusting Radio Link Monitoring (RLM), Radio Link Failure (RLF) detection, RLF recovery, and/or connection establishment failure detection for wireless devices () in a cellular communications network () depending on mode of operation. In one embodiment, a node () in the cellular communications network () determines whether a wireless device () (e.g., a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device) is to operate in a long range extension mode of operation or a normal mode of operation. The node () then applies different values for at least one parameter depending on whether the wireless device () is to operate in the long range extension mode or the normal mode. The at least one parameter includes one or more RLM parameters, one or more RLF detection parameters, and/or one or more RLF recovery parameters. In doing so, signaling overhead and energy consumption within the wireless device () when operating in the long range extension mode is substantially reduced.

Method for modifying parameter values for long range extension and corresponding node

The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for synchronizing one or more radio devices with a radio access node. A method of providing synchronization with a radio access node for radio communication to one or more radio devices is disclosed. The method comprises or triggers transmitting a configuration message to at least one of the radio devices, where the configuration message is indicative of a synchronization signal configuration for a configurable synchronization signal. The method further comprises or triggers transmitting the configurable synchronization signal to the at least one radio device in accordance with the synchronization signal configuration and communicating one or more decodable signals between the radio access node and the at least one radio device using radio resources in accordance with the configurable synchronization signal. A corresponding method of synchronizing the radio device with the radio access node for radio communication is disclosed.

Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for reducing image interference in uplink transmission. In one embodiment, a wireless device (WD) is configured to receive an indication of a resource allocation from the network node; determine an uplink center frequency based at least in part on a center frequency of a resource allocated by the received indication of the resource allocation; and transmit uplink information according to the determined uplink center frequency.

Methods and apparatuses for at least reducing an image interference for uplink transmission
