Protocol Data Unit (PDU) sessions in a communication network () provide logical interconnections between Data Networks (DNs) () and respective User Equipments (UEs) () that access the DNs () via the communication network (), and the communication network () establishes one or more affiliated sessions in conjunction with each PDU session, such as an affiliated charging or policy control session. Rather than requiring the high signaling overhead associated with mass terminations of these affiliated sessions on a per session basis, the Network Functions (NFs) () contemplated herein provide for batch termination of a potentially large plurality affiliated sessions, based on the exchange of a corresponding batch termination message. Disclosed batch termination techniques include the exchange of information during session establishment, for later determination of which affiliated sessions are subject to batch termination.

Method and apparatus for signaling session terminations in a communication network

Methods of pre-emptive credit control, as well as corresponding network elements and a computer program are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method is performed in a network element comprising receiving, from an online charging system, at least one pre-emptive credit control directive for a subscriber, the credit control directive applying to at least one rating group; storing the at least one pre-emptive credit control directive in the network element and applying the at least one pre-emptive credit control directive at content or service delivery start, prior to any service or content received from, or addressing, the subscriber and belonging to the at least one rating group being forwarded from the network element.

Through this design, all sensor elements and electronic circuitry can be provided in or adjacent to the sensor body, leading to an efficient design and manufacturing.

A method and a system are for simulating a surgical procedure on a bodily object, such as an organ, in a virtual environment. The virtual environment includes a three-dimensional mathematically described model of the bodily object which reflects geometrical and mechanical properties, and a virtual instrument that is controlled by a physical feeding device, which makes it possible to affect the model. The method includes the steps of representing a two-dimensional projection of the model by way of a video sequence containing a recorded view of a real bodily object, wherein engagement with the virtual instrument only involves interacting with the model. The invention relates to a method of producing a movable lens structure that comprises the steps of: forming a lens from a lens material disposed on a carrier of another material (step), and forming a micromechanical structure from the carrier (step), wherein the forming of the lens takes place before the forming of the micromechanical structure. A voice-over-IP (VoIP) connection is established over a radio interface with a mobile radio station. A current radio condition for the VoIP connection is determined, and from that, a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for a portion of the VoIP connection. A VoIP voice encoding mode for a portion of the VoIP connection is selected based on the determined modulation coding scheme. VoIP voice is then encoded into a number of VoIP encoded frames using the selected VoIP voice encoding mode which has an associated bit rate. An optimal number of VoIP encoded frames is included in a VoIP packet for transport over the VoIP connection given the selected voice encoding mode and the selected MCS. Other adjustments may be made to ensure robustness of the VoIP connection and/or to maximize capacity.

A method of controlling the cell re-selection of a mobile station () between cells () of a cellular-based radio access network (). The method comprises the steps of determining when a cell re-selection for the mobile station () is appropriate, determining whether or not the mobile station () is involved in a push to talk service comprising a series of talk bursts, and if the mobile station is involved in a push to talk service, delaying the cell re-selection until such time as a period of silence between talk bursts occurs.

A telecommunications network comprises a base station node () which provides plural sets of radio transmission resources () for communicating with mobile stations () in a cell (). At least one set () of radio transmission resources of the cell is a non-hopping set of radio transmission resources including a resource which may carry the BCCH, and other sets (-) of radio transmission resources of the cell are hopping sets of radio transmission resources. Radio channel resources are allocated in a radio communications system based on whether a requested data communication requested is associated with a symmetric service or an asymmetric service. If the data communication is associated with a symmetric service, a symmetric connection between the mobile radio station and the radio network is established for communicating data packets associated with the data communication. Radio channel resources are assigned to the symmetric connection for transporting the data packets between the mobile radio station and the radio network. The symmetric connection is assigned substantially the same amount of radio channel resources in an uplink direction as in a downlink direction. In one example, the symmetric data communication is a voice over IP (VoIP) communication. One example environment is a GPRS/EDGE type system where the radio channel resources are time slots and the symmetric connection includes an uplink temporary block flow (TBF) and a downlink TBF.

Microwaves are generated by heterodyning the outputs of two or more optical lasers which have differing central frequencies to produce beat frequencies in the microwave range. One of the beat frequencies is used to modulate the output of at least one of the lasers so as to produce sidebands which differ from the central frequency by an integral number of the sideband frequency.
