The transmission of a warning message to a mobile terminal in a mobile communication network is triggered by an emergency event. The mobile terminal is first made aware of the need to receive a warning message by reception of an emergency event notification. The warning message is divided into a plurality of message segments. Each segment is transmitted in a separate paging message over a paging channel to mobile terminals in an idle mode. Information is added to each message segment to enable the mobile terminal to discriminate between segments belonging to different warning messages.

Segmentation and reassembly of warning messages

A mobile station () for use in a Radio Access Network, RAN (), connected to a core network () in which there is one or more Public Land Mobile Networks, PLMNs (). The mobile station () is arranged to select one of said PLMNs (), and is arranged to communicate with its RAN () by means of Radio Link Control, RLC, data blocks. The mobile station is arranged to include the identity, ID, of its selected PLMN in an RLC data block, and to inform the RAN () of the presence of the ID of the chosen PLMN in the RLC data block by means of including a reserved or pre-defined value in the length indication field of the RLC data block.

The invention relates to a radio network controller (RNC) for receiving a LOCATION_REPORTING_CONTROL message and analyzing a value of a request type information element received in the LOCATION_REPORTING_CONTROL message. The RNC directly determines requested location information for a user equipment (UE) if the request information element indicates sending location information as a direct response to the LOCATION_REPORTING_CONTROL message or the RNC determines the requested location information if the UE changes the service area if the request information element indicates sending location information at a change of service area by the UE. Handling of segmentation of ETWS messages

Packet Switched (PS) handover based Circuit Switched Fall Back (CSFB) of a mobile station is controlled from an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) cell to a target Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) cell or a target GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) cell in a PS domain. A network node receives a handover request from a SGSN. A PLMN ID associated with the SGSN is identified. A set of PLMN IDs transmitted as system information by the target UTRAN cell or the target GERAN cell is identified. A PLMN ID index is generated to indicate an association between the PLMN ID associated with the SGSN and one of the PLMN IDs of the set. The PLMN ID index is communicated toward the mobile station for use during PS handover based CSFB. The mobile station embeds the PLMN ID index in a Location Area Update (LAU) message, and transmits the LAU message to a target BSS/RNS of the GERAN/UTRAN cell for use during the PS handover based CSFB.

An MTC device activates an MTC service by first performing an MTC device attachment procedure to attach to a mobile communication network. After the MTC device is attached to the mobile communication network, the MTC device activates a packet data protocol context for the MTC device with the mobile communication network. A method and packet data support node in a radio telecommunications network supporting packet data communication between a packet data network and a mobile terminal in radio communication with a first packet control unit. The packet data support node receives a message from the mobile terminal requesting handover to a second packet control unit. A packet flow context detector in the packet data support node detects the number of packet flow contexts currently active in the first packet control unit for supporting the packet data connection. The detector sends a message during handover to the second packet control unit indicating the number of active packet flow contexts. The message is used for activation of a corresponding number of packet flow contexts in the second packet control unit.
