The present invention relates to a compound obtainable by reacting an N-acyl neutral amino acid or a salt thereof, or an N-acyl neutral amino acid oligopeptide or a salt thereof with a monohydroxy monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof. This compound is useful as a collector in a process for froth flotation of non-sulfidic ores, especially phosphate ores. The invention also relates to a method which comprises the steps of a) conditioning a pulped phosphate ore, wherein the phosphate ore comprises a calcium phosphate mineral or a mixture of such minerals, and gangue minerals, with an effective amount of a calcium phosphate mineral collector reagent, which is the above-mentioned compound, and optionally other flotation aids and b) performing a froth flotation process to recover the calcium phosphate mineral(s).

The invention relates to a reverse froth flotation process for treating a calcium carbonate ore containing silicates. The process comprises the use of two collectors selected from the group consisting of fatty tri-lower-alkyl quaternary ammonium compounds, fatty di-lower-alkyl benzyl quaternary ammonium compounds, fatty lower-alkyl di-benzyl quaternary ammonium compounds, di-fatty di-lower-alkyl quats, di-fatty lower-alkyl benzyl quats, and fatty bis-imidazoline quats. The use of a combination of different quats was found to result in a synergetic performance of the collectors.

Reverse froth flotation of calcite ore

A derivative of aspartic acid is used as a collector for a phosphate containing mineral, such as apatite, in a froth flotation process. According to the invention the collector has a high selectivity for phosphate containing minerals even in the presence of carbonate minerals, such as calcite. The derivative has the formula (I) where Ris a hydrophobic group containing a hydrocarbon group of 6-24 carbon atoms; Ris an alkyl group with 1-7 carbon atoms or a group of the formula (B)H, in which B is an alkyleneoxy group with 2-4 carbon atoms and y is a number from 1 to 10; and M is a group selected from the group consisting of a cation or hydrogen. This collector has a high selectivity to concentrate silicates in the froth product, while a high yield of iron minerals is maintained in the bottom concentrate or concentrates.

Quaternary ammonium compounds for froth flotation of silicates from an iron ore

The present invention relates to a process for enriching an iron mineral from a silicate-containing iron ore by carrying out, at a pH of 8-11, a froth flotation in the presence of a depressing agent for the iron mineral and a collecting agent containing a combination of an ether monoamine and an ether polyamine, which contain an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 6-22 carbon atoms in a weight ratio of the ether monoamine to the ether polyamine of 1:4-4:1. The invention also discloses a composition which is suitable for use in the process.
