The downlink control channels in a control region of each downlink subframe in a telecommunication system are divided into at least one common subset of the downlink control channels and a plurality of group subsets of the downlink control channels, such that the common subset or each common subset will be decoded by every user equipment, and each group subset will be decoded only by a limited group of user equipments. Resource assignment messages for a user equipment can then be transmitted on a downlink control channel of the relevant group subset, to avoid the need for messages to be decoded by a large number of UEs that will not act on them, while broadcast messages can be transmitted on a downlink control channel of the relevant common subset, to avoid the need for messages to be transmitted many times.

Method and arrangement in a telecommunication system

The proposed technology concerns network units and, which are typically remotely located, and from the perspective of one of the network units, the other network unit is therefore referred to as a remote network unit. The network unit is configured to provide Radio Resource Control, RRC, and/or Packet Data Convergence Protocol, PDCP, protocol functionality, and comprises an X2 unit for providing an X2 interface between the RRC and/or PDCP protocol functionality of the network unit and lower protocol layer(s) and/or sub-layer(s) of the remote network unit. A method relating to handover in a communication system is disclosed. The method comprises establishing that a communication device is involved in a handover process from a first cell to a second cell, and increasing at least one of diversity and transmission power of a scheduling assignment transmitted on physical downlink control channel resources, wherein the physical downlink control channel resources are multiplexed with data resources in one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, OFDM, symbols and wherein the scheduling assignment is specific for the communication device. A corresponding communication system, computer programs and computer program products are also disclosed.

Method and system relating to handover

The application relates to a method () for managing enhanced physical downlink control channel, EPDCCH, resources used in a wireless communications network () for transmitting scheduling assignments. Method and communications network for assigning enhanced physical downlink control channel resources

Embodiments of a method in a base station for precoding a downlink transmission are disclosed. In some embodiments, the method comprises obtaining, for a time instant k, an estimate of a channel matrix for a wireless channel for a downlink from the base station to a wireless device and projecting the estimate of the channel matrix onto one or more sets of spatial orthonormal functions, thereby obtaining respective sets of coefficients. The method further comprises, for each set of spatial orthonormal functions, filtering the set of coefficients for the time instant k based on a filtering parameter that is specific to a downlink channel to be transmitted. The method further comprises generating beamforming weights using the filtered set of coefficients for at least one of the sets of spatial orthonormal functions, and precoding the downlink channel using the beamforming weights.

Beamforming in cellular systems using the same feedback information for different physical channels

The present disclosure provides a method of determining a DTX cause at an access node, comprising: transmitting, to a User Equipment (UE), an Uplink (UL) grant and a Downlink (DL) assignment in a same DL subframe; detecting whether Discontinuous Transmission (DTX) of at least one of UL data to be transmitted in response to the UL grant received by the UE and Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) Acknowledgement (ACK)/Negative Acknowledgement (NACK) to be transmitted in response to DL data related to the DL assignment received by the UE occurs; and determining a cause of the DTX based on a result of the DTX detection. The present disclosure further provides an access node using the method and a computer program product.

Determining DTX cause

A system, method (), and network node () is presented for setting the size of a control region, the PDCCH region () of a subframe (). The PDCCH control region may have a size, indicated by the Control Format Indicator, CFI, transmitted on the PCFICH, that varies between 1 and 3 OFDM symbols. The network node () may select () an initial size for the control region (), and determine () whether the initial size for the control region is less than a predetermined maximum control region size. In response to determining that the initial size is less than the predetermined maximum control region size, the network node () selects () a final size for the control region () based on a data region load. The data region load indicates a load on all physical downlink shared channels, PDSCHs, on all enhanced PDCCHs, ePDCCHs, in the data region. After selecting the final size for the control region, the network node () transmits () the subframe (), wherein the control region of the subframe comprises information identifying the selected final size, and the size of the control region is equal to the selected final size.

System, method, and apparatus for selecting the size of a control region of a subframe based on data region load

A method for allocating space for a plurality of control sets for Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ), wherein each control set comprising elements for carrying HARQ indicators. The method is performed in a network node and comprises determining a largest set size, in number of resources, of any one of the plurality of control sets; determining a target size, in number of resources, to be allocated for HARQ; allocating a HARQ space, wherein the HARQ space having a size, in number of resources, being a maximum of the largest set size and the target size; and spreading the plurality of control sets within the HARQ space. The HARQ space can be used in the uplink, for providing HARQ feedback on downlink information.

Allocating space for a plurality of control sets for HARQ

A network node determines a system load of the network node for the UE. When the UE is capable of receiving control information on EPDCCH, the system load is determined based on a first and a second system load metrics on a physical resource shared by PDSCH and EPDCCH, which first load metrics comprises a load due to EPDCCH and a load due to multiplexed PDSCH and which second load metrics comprises a load due to multiplexed EPDCCH and a load due to PDSCH. When the UE is not capable of receiving control information on EPDCCH, the system load is determined based on the first system load metrics on the physical resource shared by the PDSCH and EPDCCH and a third system load metrics on a physical resource for carrying PDCCH. The network node further determines whether or not to allocate resources to the UE based on the determined system load metrics.

Network node and method in a wireless telecommunications network

Assigning resources for control signalling for a wireless device is described wherein the resources can be used for user data when not used for control signalling. A network node obtains a collection of at least one configuration group, wherein each configuration group refers to a selection of the resources; determines a load for each one of the configuration groups; when no configuration group of the collection has a load which is less than a first threshold value, instantiates a new configuration group referring to a selection of the resources, and assigns at least part of the resources of the new configuration group to the wireless device; and when there is a first configuration group in the collection having a load which is less than the first threshold value, assigns at least part of the resources of the first configuration group to the wireless device.

Assigning resources for control signalling for a wireless device

It is presented a method of allocating resources of a first uplink subframe being part of a radio frame, each resource being a combination of a frequency range, and a time slot and a code. The method is performed in a network node and comprises: determining a first set of resources allocated for Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request, HARQ, feedback in the first uplink subframe; determining a second set of resources allocated for HARQ feedback in a second uplink subframe being part of the radio frame; identifying free resources in the first uplink subframe by identifying resources of the second set of resources which have no correspondence in the first set of resources; and allocating when a free resource is found, at least part of the free resources to a use other than HARQ feedback. Physical downlink control channel power coordination

The present disclosure provides coordination of assignments for the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a multi-sector cell based on reuse of CCE resources to user equipment (UE) in different sectors that are well isolated from each other. For non-isolated UEs the CCE resources are either repeated in all sectors for better reception performance, or transmitted in one sector while the corresponding CCEs in the other sectors are reserved. In order to achieve coordinated PDCCH assignment there is provided methods for coordinated PDCCH transmission, a system comprising transmission points which are associated with a common physical cell identity and which are controlled by a common network node. There is also provided a corresponding network node and computer readable media comprising computer program code.
