The present invention relates to a method for monitoring network performance in a wireless communication network comprising multiple cells that communicate with wireless devices. Each cell provides coverage in a geographical area and the wireless communication network has a cell coverage plan with a calculated performance. The method comprising: a) retrieving geospatially located measurements from wireless devices; b) connecting each geospatially located measurement to a cell; c) arranging measurements into at least one cluster per cell; d) identifying deviations from the cell coverage plan; and e) initiating actions to reduce deviations.

Method in a radio communication network

A network device receives probe packets communicated by a user equipment device. The network device communicates response packets back to the user equipment device, including timestamps, and/or other information. The user equipment device may be configured to test the performance of different portions of a wireless network (i.e., determine an available bandwidth measurement throughput (ABMT) of the wireless network) by accessing different network devices (or information associated with different network devices).

Systems and methods for measuring available bandwidth in mobile telecommunications networks

The present invention is directed to a method for predicting a bit rate provided by an enhanced data channel in a future radio channel, once the future radio channel is added to an ordinary data channel in an operational radio channel. It is assumed that the bit-rate provided by the enhanced data channel is indicated by the ratio (A), wherein E is the enhanced data channel power offset, E is the ordinary control channel power offset after a future addition and kis a constant. The method comprises with respect to the operational radio channel the steps of obtaining a first transmit power P, a first quality target Q, the power offset O for an ordinary control channel and the power offset O for the ordinary data channel. In addition, the method comprises with respect to the future radio channel the steps of obtaining a second transmit power Pand a second quality target Q. The ratio (A) indicating said bit-rate is then obtained by the step of using the expression (B) wherein k2 and k3 are predetermined constants.

Bit-rate prediction

The present invention teaches a method, system, terminals and service node for geographically positioning a first mobile radio terminal (MS1) within a radio network (100) comprising unsynchronised radio base stations by using a plurality of second fixed radio terminals (MS2) whereby the positions of the radio base stations and the second fixed radio terminals are known. First and second radio terminals (MS1,MS2) measure the relative receive times between the timing signals downlink (113-118) received from at least three radio base stations (BS1,BS2,BS3) and the second fixed radio terminals (MS2)send them to a service node (107) in the network (100) using them for calculating the transmission time offsets of the timing signals downlink. Calculating the position of the first mobile radio terminal (MS1) is performed either in the service node (107) in the network (100) or in the terminal (MS1) itself, after respectively sending relative receive time measurements from the first mobile radio terminal (MS1) to the service node (107), or broadcasting transmission time offset values and known positions from the service node (107) to the first radio terminal (MS1) to be positioned.
