There is provided configuration of a communications link. The configuration involves wirelessly receiving control signalling from a user equipment by a network node functional unit. The control signalling relates to an uplink communications resource between the user equipment and the network node functional unit. The configuration further involves notifying, in response to receiving the control signalling and prior to receiving any user data associated with the control signalling from the user equipment on the uplink communications resource, a backhaul client functional unit to configure a communications link to a backhaul hub.

Communications link configuration

The embodiments herein relate to a method in a first network node () for handling Automatic Gain Control, AGC, scaling and Transmit Power Control, TPC, scaling of a signal received from a second network node (). The first network node AGC compensates the signal for any AGC scaling changes. The AGC compensating the signal results in an AGC compensated signal comprising a constant AGC scaling. The first network node detects a TPC scaling change of the signal. The detection is based on the signal after the TPC scaling change and based on a predicted channel estimate. The predicted channel estimate is based on the signal before the TPC scaling change. The first network node TPC compensates for the detected TPC scaling change. The TPC compensation results in an AGC and TPC compensated signal comprising the constant AGC scaling and a constant TPC scaling according to the detected TPC scaling change.

Method and network node for handling AGC and TPC scaling

The present invention describes an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing, OFDM, transmitter and a method for embedding phase reference symbols into an OFDM symbol. The invention comprises a single-carrier pre-processing unit arranged to receive phase reference symbols and provide pre-processed phase reference samples as output and an OFDM modulator arranged to receive data symbols and the pre-processed phase reference samples as input and map the data symbols to sub-carriers and embed the single-carrier samples into a frequency sub-band of the OFDM symbol. While the invention particularly relates to an OFDM communication system, it should be noted that it could be applicable to any type of multicarrier communication system.

Phase reference symbol format for OFDM phase synchronization

The teachings herein disclose a receiving node and a related method for determining a channel estimate of a radio channel in a receiving node of a radio communication system. The method comprises calculating a matched filter channel estimate based on a known reference signal and a received reference signal in a frequency domain, transforming the matched filter channel estimate into an over-sampled transform domain channel estimate, applying a window to the over-sampled transform domain channel estimate to achieve a windowed transform domain channel estimate, transforming the windowed transform domain channel estimate into a frequency domain channel estimate, and compensating for a bias in the over-sampled frequency domain channel estimate based on a digital sinc function.

Receiving node and method for determining channel estimate

A method for noise rise estimation in a wireless communication system comprises measuring of received total wideband power a plurality of times and computing an estimate of a noise floor measure based on a number of the measured received total wideband powers. An interference whitening is performed based on one of GRAKE, GRAKE&#x2212;and chip equalizer. A useful signal power for the first user after interference whitening is determined. A first user noise floor compensation factor is derived based on combining weights for the first user used in the interference whitening. A code power to interference ratio measure for said first user is obtained. A noise rise measure is calculated, based at least on the useful signal power for the first user after interference whitening, the first user noise floor compensation factor, the code power to interference ratio measure for the first user and the noise floor measure.

Load estimation in wireless communication

A controlling node for a cellular communications system, arranged to determine and transmit commands for Transmit Power Control, TPC, to one or more Mobile Terminals, MTs, in at least one cell in the system. The controlling node is arranged to classify an MT as being in one of a number of states, and to use differing methods for determining an MT's TPC command depending on which state the MT is in, so that one method is used for determining TPC commands to an MT in the active state and another method is used for determining TPC commands to an MT in the passive state.

Device and method for transmit power control

The embodiments herein relate to a method in a base station for adjusting transmission power in a communications network. The base station determines a first number m; P of historical transmit power control, TPC, commands based on a signal power and an interference level. The base station determines a second number 2k; n+Q of current TPC commands based on the first number m; P of historical TPC commands, or based on the first number m; P of historical TPC commands and a third number n&#x2212;K of signal power and interference level pairs. The base station transmits a sequence of TPC commands comprising the first number of historical TPC commands and the second number of current TPC commands to the user equipment to adjust the user equipment's transmission power.

Method and device for transmission power control

A method () for scheduling uplink transmission resources such as transmission duration and frequency to users () in a cell () of a cellular system (). Grants for the use of uplink transmission resources are sent () on a downlink control channel to users in the cell and the users' uplink transmissions are sent () in subframes which have a certain extension in time and frequency. For each of at least a number of subframes, a decision () is made on the number of users that will be scheduled resources for uplink transmission in the subframe, so that said number of users is maximized () with respect to the control channel's capacity to transmit uplink grants for that subframe.

Uplink scheduling in a cellular system

A radio communication method and system employs power level presetting to mitigate the increase in interference caused by the discontinuous transmission of mobile stations. In the downlink, power presetting entails detecting the entry (or removal) of mobile stations to a cell, and in response thereto, calculating a plurality of power adjustment values for each mobile station within the cell. In the uplink, power presetting entails estimating an increase in interference caused by the entry (or removal) of mobile stations to a cell, and using this estimate for calculating an updated power target for each mobile station within the cell. Power presetting is also initiated in response to one or more mobile stations switching from high data-rate mode to low data-rate mode, or vice versa.

Power presetting in a radio communication system

A system for inhibiting the transmission of an access request message from a mobile station when either the system is incapable of granting access at the class of service desired by the mobile or access by the mobile at that class of service would increase the interference level of the target base station or a neighboring base station past its interference capacity. In one embodiment, each base station broadcasts a maximum data rate access parameter and any mobile receiving that parameter and seeking access at a greater data rate refrains from transmitting an access request message. In another embodiment, each mobile calculates from its path loss to the base station the power level it must transmit in order to gain access as well as the effect of that transmission on the interference level of both the target base station and neighboring base stations. If transmission at the required power level would increase the interference level of any base station past its maximum capacity, the transmission is inhibited. The system is most effective in CDMA mobile cellular radio systems.
