Examples described herein relate to techniques for session continuity when a User Equipment (UE) is moving to a destination core of a destination communication system in an interworking network architecture. Example techniques may include registering by a destination subscription manager in a Network Repository Function (NRF) a subscription profile and indicating support for a session continuity for the User Equipment (UE). Discovering the subscription profile by a source subscription manager by utilizing the NRF. Receiving the session information by the destination subscription manager from the source subscription manager based on the discovery of the subscription profile. Enabling continuity of the session by the destination subscription based on the received session information.

Session continuity for a user equipment

Systems and methods are provided for automatic notifications of expired subscriptions. In various embodiments, a network function can request a subscription from a Unified Data Repository (UDR). The request for the subscription can include a request for a notification when the subscription expires or at a time prior to the expiration of the subscription. When the subscription expires or at the time prior to the expiration of the subscription, the UDR can provide a notification that the subscription has expired or is about to expire. Based on the notification, the network function can request to re-subscribe or request a new subscription from the UDR.

Automatic notifications for expired subscriptions

Examples relate to determining mobile network class of service. In one example, a computing device may receive, from a mobility management entity (MME), a request from a device that requested access to a network operated by the MME, the request specifying an account identifier and location data that corresponds to the device; based on the location data, determine that the device is roaming; based on the account identifier and in response to the determination that the device is roaming, identify a class of service (CoS) for the device; and provide the MME with response data including the identified CoS.

Determining mobile network class of service

In some examples, a computer-readable medium includes instructions. The instructions may be executable by a processing resource to maintain a default roaming restrictions database that stores default roaming restriction attributes specific to roaming classes of service defined by a network operator. The default roaming restriction attributes may be specific to the roaming classes of service independent of mobile country code and mobile network code. The instructions may also be executable by the processing resource to perform a lookup into the default roaming restrictions database to identify a particular default roaming restriction attribute specific to a particular roaming class of service defined by the network operator.

A subscriber record may include a plurality of references to a plurality of specific class of service records. Each class of service record may relate to a different type of customized applications service subscriber information.

A method and corresponding apparatus and system of controlling access to communication services by a roaming wireless device are described. The method includes receiving a request for roaming wireless device service information related to a roaming user and determining which services the user has access to for the requesting system, if the user is determined to have access to the requesting system. The method also includes transmitting user service information concerning the services to which the user has access. The apparatus includes a memory, a communication system, and a processor. The memory stores: (1) user information including a class of service (COS) identifier and (2) COS restriction information. The processing system, coupled with the communication system and the memory, generates a reply message based on comparing information in a service request message received by the communication system with the stored information in the memory.

Controlling access to communication services

System and method for traffic surge control. A control message may be received for registering or managing a device in a network. A measure of a number of current control messages already being processed in the network may be retrieved. A condition may be retrieved, from among a plurality of conditions, that corresponds to the retrieved measure of current control messages, each condition defining different rules for discarding a control message of the same type and corresponding to one of a plurality of measures of current control messages. Based on whether or not the retrieved condition is met, the control message may be processed to register or manage the device or discarded.

System and method for traffic surge control

Methods, computer readable media, and system embodiments are provided for call routing in communication networks. One method embodiment includes initiating a call processing process by receiving a call for a called party, sending a message to a home location register to initiate a call termination, arming a trigger for transferring the call processing process to a set of executable instructions that can use a variable delay to pause the call processing process to allow a color ringback tone server to provide an initial play of a ringback tone, initiating an initial play of the ringback tone for receipt by the calling party, sending a message transferring the call processing process to the home location register, and setting a variable delay that allows the initial play of the ringback tone to the calling party to play for a predetermined period.

Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with provisioning an internet protocol (IP) multimedia core network subsystem (IMS) are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes logic for provisioning an IMS charging database with charging data and logic for provisioning an IMS user database with user data. The exemplary system embodiment may also include logic for provisioning an IMS call session control function (CSCF) logic with data that relates a user to charging information based, at least in part, on a charging class of service (COS) identifier.

A method for routing message traffic over a communication network. In one example, the method comprises receiving, at a first server, a request from a subscriber terminal and transmitting, from the first server to a subscriber location function of the network, a message requesting routing information to a user database serving the subscriber terminal. A response message is transmitted from the subscriber location function of the network to the first server, the response message including routing information for a second server instead of the user database, wherein the response message is transmitted in a format indicating to the first server that communication with the user database has occurred when it has not. The first server receives the response message transmitted by the subscriber location function and transmits the request from the subscriber terminal to the second server.
