Methods and systems for monitoring an immersive system include detecting a first event that occurs in an environment of a user of the immersive system that is external to an immersive headset of the immersive system while the user is operating the immersive system, initiating monitoring of the environment of the user of the immersive system responsive to detecting the first event, detecting a second event that occurs in the environment of the user of the immersive system that is external to the immersive headset while monitoring the environment of the user of the immersive system, and, responsive to determining that the second event matches a defined pattern, providing an indication to the user of the immersive system so that the user is alerted.

The disclosure relates to a system for generating a status output based on sound emitted by an animal. The system comprising: a client (), a server () and a database (); the database () is accessible () by the server () and comprises historic sound data pertaining to the animal () or animals of the same type as the animal; the client () comprising circuitry () configured to: detect () sound emitted () by the animal (); record () the detected sound (); analyze () the recorded sound for detecting whether the sound () comprises a specific sound characteristic out of a plurality of possible sound characteristics, wherein the sound characteristic includes at least one of intensity, frequency and duration of the detected sound; transmit (), in response to detecting that the sound () comprises the specific sound characteristic, the recorded sound to a server (); the server () comprises circuitry () configured to: receive () the recorded sound; classify () the recorded sound by comparing one or more sound characteristics of the recorded sound with the historic sound data comprised in the database (); generate () the status output based on the classification of the recorded sound. Controlling notification output from an electronic device includes detecting that a stress level of a user of the electronic device is above a predetermined threshold; and in response to the detection that the stress level of the user is above the predetermined threshold, applying a notification rule to control notification output, the application of the notification rule changing how or when a notification for the call or message is output by the electronic device relative to how or when the notification would be output had the user stress level been below the predetermined threshold.
