It is provided an aperture coupled patch antenna comprising a substrate comprising a planar electrically conductive ground plane, an electrically conductive box arranged on and electrically connected to the ground plane to form an air filled cavity between the box and the ground plane, the box comprising an aperture in the form of at least one elongate slot. The antenna further comprises an electrically conductive patch arranged in parallel with the ground plane and at a distance from the box such that the aperture of the box is located between the patch and the ground plane and a distribution network comprising at least one elongate distribution element arranged in parallel with the ground plane between the ground plane and the patch, at a distance from the substrate and the ground plane and at a distance from the box such that a gap is formed between the distribution element and the box, wherein the extension of the distribution element intersects the extension of the aperture.

Aperture coupled patch antenna arrangement

The invention provides an antenna arrangement having an operating frequency band with a mean wavelength &#x3bb; and comprising at least two columns of antenna elements with at least two antenna elements in each column. Each column of antenna elements extends above a separate elongated column ground plane with a column separation defined as a distance between mid-points of neighbouring column ground planes. The antenna elements in each column are located along a column axis pointing in a longitudinal direction of the column ground plane wherein all column separations are below 0.9&#x3bb; and wherein a parasitic element extends above at least one antenna element in each column. Parameters of the parasitic element are adapted for proper excitation thus achieving a reduced beamwidth for each of said columns of antennas. The invention also provides a method to manufacture the antenna arrangement.

Compact multi-column antenna

The disclosure relates to a node in a wireless communication arrangement, the node comprising an antenna arrangement that comprises a first and second inverted F antenna. The inverted F antennas comprise a corresponding first and second feed connection, first and second ground connection and a corresponding first and second radiating element mainly extending from the respective ground connection along a corresponding first and second longitudinal extension. The inverted F antennas are arranged on, or in, a plane. Furthermore, the first and second radiating elements are extending in opposite directions along their respective longitudinal extensions from the respective ground connections, the first longitudinal extension and the second longitudinal extension being mutually parallel. The closest distance between the first radiating element and the second radiating element exceeds 0.4*&#x3bb;, where &#x3bb;is the wavelength for the center frequency of the frequency band for which the inverted F antennas are intended.

Inverted F-antennas at a wireless communication node

The invention provides a dual polarized antenna or antenna array with a first and second radiation pattern having a first and second polarization, a method for adjustment of said antenna or antenna array and a wireless communication system comprising said antenna or antenna array. The antenna or antenna array comprises a main radiating antenna element or array of main radiating antenna elements arranged above a conductive frame. Then invention further provides an antenna or antenna array wherein a combination of conductive parasitic strips and chokes are arranged in association with the main radiating antenna element to achieve means for independently controlling beamwidths of the first and second radiation pattern a method for adjustment to achieve a desired beamwidth for each polarization, wherein the beamwidth adjustment for first and second radiation pattern is made independently of each other a wireless communication system including base stations equipped with a dual polarized antenna or antenna array according to the invention.
