Aseptic constant flow valves to be used, for example, in the dairy industry should be readily washable and allow sterilization by means of conventional washing and sterilizing agents. A valve which fulfils these requirements comprises an operating chamber with inlet and outlet which is connected to the valve housing and therefore can be circulation-washed and sterilized together with the latter.

An arrangement for the sealing of thermoplastic-coated packing material of the type which includes at least one layer of an aluminum foil. The arrangement includes an inductor (3) connectable to a high-frequency source of current which is constituted of a U-shaped loop of electrically conducting material. The legs of the U-shaped loop are parallel and are situated close to each other, and the inductor (3) a core (10) of ferrite material between its legs. The manufacture of non-returnable packages is frequently carried out by the conversion of web-shaped, laminated packing material to a tube, filling of the tube with milk, and sealing and forming the filled packing containers to the desired shape. During the forming, which is done by external forming devices, the contents are used as a mandrel or a holder-up for the forming device, so that the desired shape can be achieved without creasing or other deformations. The above-mentioned forming principle works less well if the packing containers are not completely filled, but have a certain air space or headspace. The proportioning of the contents also becomes uncertain and the desired accuracy of volume cannot always be achieved. These difficulties are overcome by the invention wherein a sealed off part of the packing material tube is pressurized with the help of gas during the forming process, so that the internal back pressure required during the forming is obtained, independently of the quantity of contents. The method also permits an accurate proportioning of the contents either by continuous feed at a controlled flow rate or by discontinuous feeding in portions. The invention also relates to an apparatus for the realization of the method.

The presterilization of packaging machines for the manufacture of aseptic packing containers can be carried out with the help of sterile air and liquid sterilizing agent, which are blended so that a gas saturated with sterilizing agent of a suitable temperature and dew point is obtained. In order to achieve a rapid and effective volatilization of the liquid a circulating movement is imparted to the hot sterile air as the sterile liquid is introduced into the center of the circulating movement. An apparatus using this method comprises a chamber with a helical guide rail and a spray nozzle for the sterilizing liquid.

The invention relates to a regulating arrangement in particular on packing machines for the feed of weblike packing material in register with decorations or folding indications, so-called crease lines, present on the web. In accordance with the invention the desired control is obtained by regulating the tension of the web with the help of a guide roller over which the web is passed. The speed of the guide roller is regulated so that a web tension required for a feed according to register is obtained.
