Processes for producing articles with stress-free edges which comprise slitting a copper or copper alloy sheet to provide strips of the copper material, heating the strips in a furnace at a temperature of 200-250&deg; C. under a protective atmosphere, and cooling the strips to room temperature, the strips so produced being useful to make stamped articles.

Processes for producing articles with stress-free slit edges

Copper alloys for electrical applications, particularly in the computer industry, and a process for making the copper alloys. The copper alloys contain 13-15% by weight of zinc, 0.7-0.9% by weight of tin, and 0.7-0.9% by weight of iron, the balance being copper. The low tin and iron content and high zinc content provide high tensile and yield strengths, a high conductivity, and a low cost for the copper alloys.
