A subsea fluid processing system includes an electric motor that rotates a shaft on which impellers are fixedly mounted. Diffusors are static and fixed to the pump housing. The electric motor includes a rotor surrounding the shaft and a stator that is filled with a dielectric stator fluid. The stator is sealed or 'canned.' The inner surface of the stator which faces the rotor is canned with a canning non-metallic material. The motor, as well as bearings for the rotating shaft are lubricated and cooled with a fluid that in some cases is taken from the process fluid and some alternative source. Alternative sources include: MEG, methanol, treated seawater and untreated seawater.

A subsea injection system may include one or more filter stages to filter seawater and output filtered seawater and waste seawater. The waste seawater may include particles removed from the filtered seawater. The subsea injection system may also include a combined pump having an injection pump to motivate the filtered seawater into a reservoir of a geological formation. The combined pump may also include a filter pump to motivate the seawater through the filter stages and a motor to drive the injection pump and the filter pump. The motor may drive the filter pump via an indirect coupling such that the motor is sealed from the filter pump at the indirect coupling.

Subsea fluid injection system

A fluid processing machine that operates on a process fluid may include a frame that structurally supports at least a portion of the fluid processing machine and a shaft that operatively rotates about an axis and relative to the frame. The shaft may include a projection in a radial direction relative to the axis that is operationally contacted by a sealing armature that has an axial degree of freedom relative to the axis. Additionally, the fluid processing machine may include a dynamic rotational seal between the projection and the sealing armature and a dynamic axial seal between the sealing armature and the frame. The dynamic axial seal may include one or more metallic seals that seal between the sealing armature and the frame circumferentially about the axis.

A vertical rotating system that includes a first vertical shaft that rotates. The first vertical shaft is oriented such that the gravitational force is substantially parallel to the first vertical shaft. A radial bearing extends about a first portion of the first vertical shaft. A first impeller sectioned couples to the first vertical shaft and rotates in a first direction to pump a first fluid. A first stator surrounds the first vertical shaft. The first stator defines a first groove that extends about a second portion of the first vertical shaft. The first groove receives a second fluid. A pressure of the second fluid drives the first vertical shaft away from the first groove.

Bearing system for vertical shafts

A technique facilitates movement of fluids with reduced component loading by utilizing opposed axial forces. The system for moving fluid may be in the form of a gas compressor, liquid pump, or other device able to pump or otherwise move fluid from one location to another. According to an embodiment, the system includes rotor sections which are combined with pumping features. The rotor sections are disposed radially between corresponding inner and outer stator sections which may be powered to cause relative rotation of inner and outer rotor sections in opposite directions. The rotors and corresponding pumping features are configured to move fluid in opposed axial directions toward an outlet section so as to balance axial forces and thus reduce component loading, e.g. thrust bearing loading.

A diffuser for a fluid compression device includes at least one vane mounted on a hub. The at least vane includes at least one opening () starting at a distance ranging between 10% and 60% of the axial length of the vane. The diffuser can be used in a fluid compression device also including a housing, at least one impeller within the housing, the impeller including at least one vane, the diffuser being arranged within the housing, upstream or downstream from said impeller.

A fluid processing machine that includes a stator capable of generating an electromagnetic field and a first rotor section having at least one impeller and at least one permanent magnet. The stator is configured to electromagnetically engage with the first rotor section so as to rotate the first rotor section about a central axis in a first rotational direction. Further rotor sections can also be included that are induced to rotate in the first rotational direction. Other rotator sections with impellers and permanent magnets can also be included that are driven in a second, contra-rotating, direction by a second stator. Several of the fluid processing machine can be distributed within a surface system or subsea system that transports produced fluid from wells to a surface facility.

Fluid processing machines and fluid production systems

System and methods are configured to adjust fluid pressure within a barrier fluid system on a subsea fluid processing machine. More specifically, a barrier fluid pressure system is located at the subsea location and includes a barrier fluid pressure regulator module having one input communicating or being pressure matched with a process fluid flowline and a second input communicating with the barrier fluid pressure system. The pressure regulator module is configured to locally adjust the barrier fluid pressure depending upon the fluid process pressure.

Systems and methods are described for processing a high-temperature process fluid using a processing machine in a subsea location while protecting dynamic seals within the machine. In some examples a small portion of the process fluid is cooled using a cooling system the cooled process fluid is then directed towards the dynamic seals. In other examples the dynamic seals are shielded and isolated from the high temperature process fluid and cooler barrier fluid is circulated within an enclosed volume in proximity to the seal.

A system to pressurize barrier fluid of a submersible installation to provide a differential pressure between the ambient pressure surrounding the submersible installation and the pressure of the barrier fluid internally in the submersible installation during submersion of the system, wherein the differential pressure fits within a predetermined differential pressure range. The system comprises a pre-charge arrangement and a pressure intensifier which is adapted to start working at a start-up pressure. The pre-charge arrangement is adapted, during submerging of the system, to provide a differential pressure within the predetermined differential pressure range until the ambient pressure equals the start up pressure of the pressure intensifier, while the pressure intensifier is adapted to provide a differential pressure within the predetermined differential pressure range when the ambient pressure equals the start-up pressure of the pressure intensifier during further submersion of the system.
