Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to improve performance of a compute device by detecting a scene change. An example apparatus includes scene change detection circuitry and interrupt circuitry. The example scene change detection circuitry is to determine a first score value for a first metric of similarity between a first image of a field of view (FOV) of an image sensor and a second image of the FOV, determine a second score value for a second metric of similarity between the first image and the second image, and compute a composite score value based on the first score value and the second score value. The example interrupt circuitry is to generate an interrupt to processor circuitry of the compute device to cause the processor circuitry to adjust a computation condition of the compute device based on the composite score.

Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to improve performance of a compute device by detecting a scene change

Techniques related to detecting texture content in an input image are discussed. Such techniques include accumulating pixel-wise directional gradient counts for positive and negative gradients for a first direction and positive and negative gradients for a second direction for pixels in a pixel window. A texture value for the target pixel of the window is determined based on a sum of a minimum of the positive and negative gradients for a first direction and a minimum of the positive and negative gradients for a second direction.

Techniques for image sensor pixel correction are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise a processor circuit and an imaging management module, and the imaging management module may be operable by the processor circuit to determine an intensity value for a pixel in an image sensor pixel array, determine a pixel intensity deviation for the pixel comprising a difference between the intensity value for the pixel and a composite intensity value for a pixel neighborhood of the pixel, determine a pixel correction threshold for the pixel, and when the pixel intensity deviation exceeds the pixel correction threshold, determine a corrected intensity value for the pixel. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques for image sensor pixel correction

Imaging apparatus () is provided for use with an image sensor (). The apparatus includes a non-linear mapping circuit (), which is configured to receive a raw stream of input pixel values generated by the image sensor and to perform a non-linear mapping of the input pixel values. to generate a mapped stream of mapped pixel values, and a linear convolution filter (), which is arranged to filter the mapped stream of mapped pixel values to generate a filtered stream of filtered pixel values. Other embodiments are also described.

Non-linear transformations for enhancement of images

A method for imaging includes receiving an input image that includes a matrix of pixels () having input pixel values. The input pixel values are processed so as to detect a region of saturation in the input image. A first image filtering operation is applied to the input pixel values of at least the pixels that are outside the region of saturation, so as to generate first filtered pixel values. A second image filtering operation is applied to the input pixel values of at least the pixels that are within the region of saturation, so as to generate second filtered pixel value. An enhanced output image is generated by stitching together the first and second filtered pixel values.

Image restoration with enhanced filtering

Imaging apparatus includes a mosaic image sensor (), which is configured to generate a stream of input pixel values belonging to a plurality of input sub-images, each sub-image responsive to light of a different, respective color that is incident on the mosaic image sensor. An image restoration circuit () is coupled to receive and digitally filter the input pixel values in each of the input sub-images so as to generate a corresponding plurality of enhanced output sub-images. An image signal processor (ISP) () is coupled to receive and combine the plurality of the output sub-images in order to generate a color video output image.
