An injection device for metering a fluid, having the following: a valve, which has a valve needle and a valve seat; a nozzle shaft, which surrounds the valve needle and which holds a volume of the fluid; and an inlet chamber, which adjoins the nozzle shaft on the side of the nozzle shaft facing away from the valve and which has a flow connection to the nozzle shaft. The injection device has at least one compressible volume compensation element, which is filled with a gas and which, within the injection device, is in contact with the fluid.

A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The fuel injector including the following: (a) a pole piece, (b) an armature which can be moved along a movement axis, (c) a coil and (d) a permanent magnet, wherein the movable armature has at least one electrically insulating element which is designed to reduce eddy currents in the armature, and wherein the permanent magnet is fitted such that it generates a magnetic field which produces a force which acts on the armature in the direction of the pole piece. The present disclosure relates to internal combustion engines. Various embodiments of the teaching thereof may include a fluid injection device for internal combustion engines, for example: a valve body with a valve needle; a spring element compressed in a radial direction between the valve body and the valve needle; the spring element supporting the valve needle on the valve body; and the spring element guiding the valve needle to at least substantially prevent tilting of the valve needle relative to the longitudinal axis during operation of the fluid injection device.

The present disclosure relates to fluid injection and the teachings thereof may be embodied in an injector. Some embodiments include an injector comprising: a valve with a valve body and a valve needle; an armature mechanically coupled to the valve needle for moving the valve needle away from a closing position; and a damping element. The valve needle moves in the valve body and seals the valve. The armature displaces the valve needle away from the closing position. The damping element comprises: a hydraulic chamber and a piston arranged to modify a fluid volume of the hydraulic chamber. The piston reduces the fluid volume of the hydraulic chamber when the valve needle moves away from the closing position. A flow restricting orifice hydraulically connects the hydraulic chamber to the cavity.

A method for detecting the commencement of opening of the nozzle needle of an injector of an injection system. In the detection method, the coil of the solenoid injector has a voltage applied to it which is so low that the armature is moved toward the nozzle needle at such a low speed that the abutment causes a stoppage of the armature movement, without the nozzle needle being opened. In this case, the idle travel is overcome, but no injection process is initiated. The abutment of the armature against the nozzle needle is detected, in the current profile, as the commencement of opening of the nozzle needle.

A pump unit includes a pump housing having a low-pressure inlet and a high-pressure outlet. A working medium is fed via the low-pressure inlet to a working chamber formed in the pump housing. The working medium is discharged from the working chamber via the high-pressure outlet. The pump unit also includes a pump piston channel formed in the pump housing and having a longitudinal axis. The pump unit has a first pump piston arranged movably along the longitudinal axis in the pump piston channel and coupled hydraulically to the working chamber. The pump unit also has a second pump piston arranged movably along the longitudinal axis in the pump piston channel and coupled hydraulically via a compensation volume to the first pump piston, wherein the compensation volume is coupled hydraulically to a compensation unit configured to adapt the compensation volume based on a pressure in the working chamber.

An injector for injecting fuel into an internal combustion engine includes a drive unit accommodated in a housing and which has an armature guided in sliding manner in the housing, and includes a valve element that is axially movable in the armature relative to the armature. The valve element has a driver element for a coupling to the armature and can be moved in order to open and/or close at least one injection opening, wherein the opening movement is limited by an abutment surface. A flange-like abutment member is fixedly connected to the valve element, and is designed such that, during the opening of the at least one injection opening, a first hydraulic damping layer is formed between said abutment member and the abutment surface, and during the closing of the at least one injection opening, a second hydraulic damping layer is formed between said abutment member and the armature.

A valve assembly for an injection valve may include a valve body having a central longitudinal axis and a cavity with a fluid inlet portion and a fluid outlet portion, the fluid inlet portion having a step, a valve needle axially movable in the cavity, the valve needle preventing a fluid flow through the fluid outlet portion in a closing position and releasing the fluid flow through the fluid outlet portion in an open position, and an electro-magnetic actuator unit configured to actuate the valve needle and comprising an axially movable armature, the armature including a first armature part fixedly coupled to the valve needle and a second armature part axially movable relative to the first armature part, the second armature part configured such that the second armature part is mechanically decoupled from the first armature part by hitting the step when the valve needle reaches its open position.

A high-pressure fuel injection valve may include a control valve having an actuator, a high-pressure fuel connection and a low-pressure fuel connection. A control plunger and nozzle needle are aligned longitudinally in the valve stem and the valve tip. Together with the control plunger, the receiving chamber of the control plunger forms a closing control chamber delimited by the upper control plunger surface, and an opening control chamber delimited by the lower control plunger surface. Each control chamber is hydraulically connected via a feed throttle to the high-pressure fuel connection and via a return throttle to the low-pressure fuel connection. The control valve opens and closes the fuel return between the return throttles and the low-pressure fuel connection depending on the operation. The flow values of the feed throttles and of the return throttles are selected such that the high-pressure fuel injection valve opens and closes based on actuation of the control valve.

High-pressure fuel injection valve for an internal combustion engine

An intake valve for a cylinder of the high-pressure fuel pump of a common rail injection system has a valve body with an inlet opening and a closing member. The closing member closes the inlet opening in a first end position. The member can be moved relative to the inlet opening depending on a pressure difference. The intake valve has a non-linear volumetric flow characteristic.
