A generator system includes an electrical generator; a generator casing disposed around the electrical generator; at least one rail structure axially disposed on an outer surface of the generator casing; at least one adaptor plate coupled to the rail structure, the adaptor plate including a substantially rectangular shape. The adaptor plate includes: at least one rabbet feature; and a plurality of bolt holes disposed therethrough. The generator system includes at least one structural foot coupled to the adaptor plate.

A seal ring assembly includes a first seal ring axially disposed from a second seal ring. The first seal ring has an axial face opposing an axial face of the second seal ring. A radial oil channel is defined between the two axial faces. Both seal rings have a tapered surface configured to contact a spring. The spring biases the seal rings away from each other via the tapered surface. Both seal rings are disposed in a radially inwardly directed channel. At least one of the seal rings have a plurality of protrusions that extend beyond the axial face. The protrusions are configured to create a passageway to allow oil to flow through the passageway and to allow at least one of the seal rings to move into a desired position by reducing static friction between the axial faces.

Embodiments of the invention are related generally to electromagnetic machines and, more particularly, to a suspension system and related methods for the attachment of the stator core of an electromagnetic machine to a surrounding frame or enclosure. In one embodiment, the invention provides a system for supporting a stator core of an electromagnetic machine, the system comprising: a rigid frame structure including: an upper portion; and a lower portion beneath the upper portion; a first plurality of wire rope members, each having a first end and a second end; and a first plurality of attachment devices for affixing at least one of the first end or the second end of each of the first plurality of wire rope members to the upper portion.

A support system for a dynamoelectric machine is disclosed. In one embodiment, the support system includes: a mounting pad having a first face and a second face, the second face including a pair of slots; a pair of spring bars bolted to the mounting pad at the pair of slots; a collar welded or brazed to the first face of the mounting pad; and a key bar between and affixed to the pair of spring bars.

Embodiments of the invention relate generally to turbo-generators and, more particularly, to suspension systems for turbo-generators and the attenuation of vibration in a stator core induced by an electromagnetic load. In one embodiment, the invention provides a support clamp comprising: an arcuate body; a first affixation point; a second affixation point; and a securing point between the first and second affixation points, wherein each of the first and second affixation points includes a radially-oriented opening extending from an inner surface to an outer surface and the securing point includes an area adjacent to an angled opening extending from a first surface to a second surface, each of the first and second surfaces lying substantially perpendicular to the inner and outer surfaces of the arcuate body.

Turbo-generator stator core suspension

Embodiments of the invention relate generally to electromagnetic devices and, more particularly, to the compression of stator core laminations using wire rope members and to stator cores and electromagnetic devices employing such wire rope members. In one embodiment, the invention includes: affixing a first end of a wire rope member to a first flange plate disposed adjacent a first end of a plurality of stator laminations; affixing a second end of the wire rope member to a second flange plate disposed adjacent a second end of the plurality of stator laminations; tensioning at least one of the first end or the second end of the wire rope member against at least one of the first flange plate and the second flange plate to exert a compressive force against the first flange plate, the second flange plate, and the plurality of stator laminations.

A support system for a dynamoelectric machine is disclosed. In one embodiment, the support system includes: a mounting pad having a first face and a second face, the second face including a pair of slots; a pair of spring bars welded or brazed to the mounting pad at the pair of slots; a collar welded or brazed to the first face of the mounting pad; and a key bar between and affixed to the pair of spring bars.

Solutions for reducing key bar rattle in dynamoelectric machines are disclosed. In one embodiment an apparatus includes: a plurality of key bars operably coupling a stator core to a stator wrapper in which the stator core is at least partially contained; a cable surrounding the plurality of key bars; and at least one anchor device connecting a portion of the cable to the stator wrapper to produce a compressive load on at least one of the plurality of key bars by tightening the cable around the plurality of key bars.

A method for assembling an electric machine is provided. The method includes providing a rotor having a cavity formed therein. At least one contoured recess is formed in a portion of the cavity. A wedge is inserted into the cavity. The wedge includes at least one contoured protrusion that is configured to mirror the at least one contoured recess of the cavity. The wedge is inserted such that the at least one contoured protrusion is positioned within the at least one contoured recess to facilitate positioning the wedge within the cavity. The at least one contoured protrusion and the at least one contoured recess are shaped to facilitate minimizing stresses within the rotor and the wedge.

In one embodiment, a system includes a generator frame that includes a spring ring configured to mount removably between an outer annular support and a stator. The spring ring includes a first guide configured to circumferentially align the spring ring to the outer annular support, and a second guide configured to circumferentially align the spring ring to the stator.

Apparatus for generator stator mounting

A rotor in a electrical machine comprises a magnetic core having at least two poles, a plurality of winding assemblies, one for each pole, and a damper winding enclosing at least a portion of the magnetic core and winding assemblies. The damper winding has (i) a plurality of electrically conductive rings concentric with a rotational axis of the magnetic core and (ii) a plurality of bars extending parallel to the rotational axis of the magnetic core and connecting to each of the rings. A radially outward surface of each of the bars is connected to a respective radially inner surface of each of the rings. A spindle of the magnetic core has first and second flat surfaces extending perpendicular to a direct axis of the magnetic core. The magnetic core may include first and second projections extending in opposite directions along the quadrature axis.

Optimized drive train for a turbine driven electrical machine

Grooves are formed in the pole faces of a multi-pole rotor body. Spacers are provided for insertion into the grooves and have radial outward projections for engaging between shield segments and enclosure rings. By providing spacers with variable width projections, the axial gap between adjacent enclosure rings and shield segments is adjusted to adjust the ventilation flow from within the rotor body.

The rotor body of an electrical machine has end windings supported by a plurality of circumferentially spaced rakes having tines between which the end windings pass in an arcuate pattern from and for return to an axial orientation within the rotor body. The rakes are supported on axial beams secured to the rotor body. An end disk is secured at the opposite ends of the beams and to a shield overlying the end windings. The rakes, beams and end disks provide axial end winding restraint. The end disk is weighted at selected circumferential locations to resist tendencies of the end windings to distort, e.g., toward an elliptical or non-concentric configuration about the rotor axis.
