A catheter tip may be a fabricated as a planar flexible circuit, e.g., via lithography, as having a first planar segment and a second planar segment that includes various electrodes on different sectors that are insulated from each other. The tip may be deformed to have a non-planar configuration, e.g., cylindrical, and then assembled onto a catheter. The catheter may be used to monitor ECG signals and temperature and to precisely deliver ablative energy to tissues via the various electrodes. ECG signals and temperature may be monitored for one sector while ablation energy is being delivered to another sector.

Flexible-circuit tip for a split-tip catheter

A catheter for electrophysiology applications is disclosed herein that includes a tubular member and an end effector. The end effector is coupled to a distal portion of the tubular member. The end effector includes first, second, and third loop members configured so that the first loop member defines a first plane, the second loop member defines a second plane at an angle to the first plane, and the third loop member defines a third plane at an angle to the first plane and at an angle to the second plane. Each of the first, second, and third loop members are configured as a respective single axis magnetic coil, and the first, second, and third loop members are collectively configured to function as a three axis magnetic sensor.

An apparatus includes a catheter assembly for use in a medical procedure to conduct electrophysiological mapping. The catheter assembly includes a catheter having an end effector with a tip member. One or more insert-molded microelectrodes are located in the tip member of the end effector for conducting electrophysiological mapping. The insert-molded microelectrodes include a microelectrode and a composite that isolates the microelectrode from contact with the tip member.

A catheter is described with an end effector having densely arrayed electrodes on three loops which are arrayed in various planar configurations when the end effector is unconstrained. The end effector has first, second and third loop members, each loop member includes two spines and a connector that connects the two spines to define a loop extending away from a tubular member of the catheter such that the first, second and third loop members are configured so that each connector of each of the first, second and third loop members is in contact with only one connector of the adjacent loop member.

A catheter has a two-piece tip electrode with a shell and a support structure defining a chamber, and a fluid distribution tube that extends longitudinally into the chamber, the fluid tube having fluid apertures along its length for distributing fluid more uniformly distributed throughout the chamber for improved cooling and thus minimizing the risk of char formation on regions of the tip electrode more prone to overheating.

A medical probe includes a generally tubular member with a tip portion coupled to the tubular member. A puller wire is disposed in the tubular member and configured for movement along the longitudinal axis to bend the tip portion with respect to the longitudinal axis. An anchor is disposed within the tubular member and connected to the puller wire such that the anchor has a t-bar. The t-bar includes a generally transverse extension and a ferrule connected to the puller wire. The probe includes a fiber engaged to the generally transverse extension and extending distally into the probe to increase a strength of the anchor with respect to forces applied to the puller wire to deflect the tip of the medical probe.

A medical probe includes a generally tubular member with a tip portion coupled to the tubular member. A puller wire is disposed in the tubular member and configured for movement along the longitudinal axis to bend the tip portion with respect to the longitudinal axis. An anchor is disposed within the tubular member and connected to the puller wire such that the anchor has a t-bar. The t-bar includes a generally transverse extension and a ferrule connected to the puller wire. The t-bar has a polymeric member disposed on the generally transverse extension to increase a strength of the anchor with respect to forces applied to the puller wire to deflect the tip of the medical probe.

A thermocouple assembly may feature a plurality of temperature sensors formed by thermocouple junctions. The sensors may be disposed within an inner diameter of the tubular element and sealed within the tubular element by thermally conductive material. An air gap may be defined by the thermally conductive material and the interior diameter of the tubular element between each pair of adjacent temperature sensors to improve thermal isolation.

A prosthetic tricuspid remodeling annuloplasty ring for use in tricuspid valve repairs to provide annular support after reconstructive valve surgery. The ring maintains an optimal annular dimension to prevent excessive dilatation of the natural valve annulus while adapting to the dynamic motion of the tricuspid annulus during the cardiac cycle. An exemplary ring features a waveform contour and may be constructed of a titanium core having a varying cross-section for selective flexibility for good Z-axis or out-of plane movement. The 'waveform' contour and selective flexibility of the different segments of this ring are designed to adapt to the complex motion of the annulus. This reduces the stress on the anatomical structures and therefore minimizes the risk of arrhythmia and ring dehiscence.

A holder for an annuloplasty ring having a template defining a proximal face opposite the distal face, and a peripheral edge about which the annuloplasty ring conforms. The annuloplasty ring anchors to the template using one or more flexible filaments. The template includes a single cutting well on its proximal face over which the flexible filament is suspended. Desirably, the single cutting well is located adjacent the peripheral edge so as to be away from any handle connections for ease of access. The flexible filament emerges above the proximal face of the template at only one location at the cutting well, thus presenting a one cut quick-release structure that is highly visible to the surgeon.

The annuloplasty ring anchors to the template using one or more flexible filaments. The template includes a single cutting well on its proximal face over which the flexible filament is suspended. Desirably, the single cutting well is located adjacent the peripheral edge so as to be away from any handle connections for ease of access. The flexible filament emerges above the proximal face of the template at only one location at the cutting well, thus presenting a one cut quick-release structure that is highly visible to the surgeon. The annuloplasty ring may have a relatively rigid inner core surrounded by a suture-permeable cover, and the peripheral edge may be formed by a lower axial wall and an upper radial ledge that projects outward from the rigid inner core but not quite as far as a sewing margin of the ring. The ring and holder may be for mitral annuloplasty rings and generally have a D shape in plan view, and may be three-dimensional with upward anterior and posterior bows.
